Job Description
Role Purpose:
To lead the development and implementation of advanced environmental sustainability strategies for Dubai's aviation sector, driving the green transition, reducing environmental impacts, and ensuring alignment with international standards. The role provides expert guidance on sustainable aviation practices, green‑technology adoption, and long‑term environmental planning to support Dubai's position as a global leader in sustainable aviation.
Key Responsibilities/Duties:
- Lead the development of aviation environmental sustainability strategies and long‑term green‑transition frameworks for Dubai's aviation sector.
- Develop and implement environmental policies, standards, and best practices aligned with ICAO, national, and international sustainability requirements.
- Oversee environmental impact assessments, sustainability studies, and sector‑wide environmental performance evaluations.
- Drive initiatives that support carbon reduction, noise mitigation, and sustainable aviation growth.
- Lead joint environmental programs with local and federal authorities to reduce aviation‑related environmental impacts.
- Represent Dubai in international forums, ICAO committees, and global sustainability platforms.
- Support the development of the annual aviation environmental compliance report, including carbon emissions, noise, and sustainability KPIs.
- Provide expert guidance to stakeholders on sustainable aviation practices, green technologies, and environmental innovation.
- Develop and deliver environmental awareness programs, training, and capacity‑building initiatives.
- Support CORSIA‑related reporting and ensure alignment with ICAO environmental frameworks.
- Lead the development of the mandatory environmental policy manual for aircraft operators, drone operators, and airports.
- Conduct advanced environmental research, benchmarking, and scenario analysis to support strategic decision‑making.
- Provide expert input on environmental aspects of airport development, heliports, and drone‑operation infrastructure.
- Ensure environmental procedures and frameworks remain aligned with international best practices.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned, consistent with the operational and regulatory responsibilities of the Aviation Environment Affairs Section .
Qualifications
Academic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainable Aviation, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
- Master's Degree or PhD preferred.
Certifications:
- ICAO environmental programs (CORSIA, CAEP) (preferred).
- Sustainability or ESG certification (e.g., LEED, IEMA, GRI) is an advantage.
- Project Management certification (preferred).
Professional Experience:
- Minimum 14+ years of relevant professional experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 12+ years of relevant professional experience with a Master's degree in aviation environmental sustainability, green‑transition programs, or environmental strategy.
- Experience in government aviation authorities or international aviation organizations is preferred.
