AWS Cloud Architect

Aptean is seeking a highly skilled and experienced AWS Cloud Architect to design, implement, and manage our cloud infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS). The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in AWS services and a strong understanding of cloud architecture principles. As an AWS Cloud Architect, you will play a critical role in driving our cloud strategy and ensuring the reliability and performance of our applications and services.

Responsibilities

Cloud Architecture Design:

• Design and implement scalable, secure, and highly available cloud architectures on AWS.
• Develop and maintain cloud architecture standards, best practices, and patterns.
• Manage infrastructure solutions and provide critical solutions.
• Manage AWS governance, including IAM, PIM, and PAM services.

Infrastructure Management:

• Create, manage, and troubleshoot IaaS and PaaS services.
• Possess deep knowledge of domain controllers, server OS's, DNS, DHCP, and RDWeb services.
• Utilize automation and scripting knowledge for reporting and inventory purposes.
• Manage and optimize AWS infrastructure for performance, cost, and security.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud infrastructure issues.

Security and Compliance:

• Implement and maintain security best practices in AWS, including IAM, network security, and data encryption.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., SOC2, BUPA).
• Conduct security assessments and vulnerability scans.

Cost Optimization:

• Analyze and optimize AWS costs using tools like AWS Cost Explorer and Trusted Advisor.
• Implement cost-saving strategies through right-sizing, reserved instances, and spot instances.
• Monitor and report on cloud spending.

Documentation:

• Create and maintain detailed architecture diagrams, technical documentation, and operational procedures.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience: 5+ years of experience in designing and implementing cloud architectures on AWS.
• Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional (preferred).

Skills

• Proven experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS, and CloudFormation.
• Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of DevOps principles and practices.
