We are seeking a qualified and passionate Baby & Pre-School Swimming Coach to deliver high-quality aquatic programs for infants, toddlers, and young children. The ideal candidate must be certified in Baby & Pre-School swimming instruction and skilled in early childhood water safety, confidence-building, and foundational swimming techniques. The coach will work closely with parents, caregivers, and internal staff to provide safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate lessons in accordance with international aquatics standards.
Key Responsibilities
Baby & Pre-School Instruction
- Deliver structured swimming lessons for infants (6 months+), toddlers, and pre-school children.
- Design age-appropriate programs focusing on:
- Water familiarity and comfort
- Assisted floating, kicking, and breath control
- Fun water-based activities for sensory and motor development
- Parent-and-child interactive sessions
- Introduce safety skills such as:
- Safe water entry and exit
- Basic rescue familiarity
- Body positioning and buoyancy
Program Planning & Development
- Create and implement lesson plans that align with Swim England standards and early childhood aquatic development guidelines.
- Adapt teaching techniques based on the abilities, confidence, and developmental stage of each child.
- Maintain progress records and communicate milestones to parents.
Safety & Risk Management
- Ensure all sessions follow strict water safety protocols.
- Conduct continuous risk assessments before and during lessons.
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment for babies and young children.
- Perform basic first aid and emergency procedures if required.
Parent & Caregiver Engagement
- Guide parents on proper in-water handling, safety, and comfort techniques.
- Provide regular feedback on the child's progress.
- Address concerns with patience, professionalism, and clear communication.
Operational Support
- Assist with the setup and organization of classes, equipment, and teaching aids.
- Support aquatics events, assessments, and seasonal swim programs.
- Coordinate with the Head Coach to maintain high program quality and consistency.
Qualifications & Certifications
Required:
- Lifeguard & Swimming Coach Certifications
- ASCA Level 1 & 2 (Foundations + Stroke School)
- First aid and CPR certification
- Experience teaching infants, toddlers, and beginner swimmers
Preferred:
- Experience working in school, sports clubs, or early childhood environments
- Open Water Diver certification (added value)
- Background in Nurseries or Early Childhood Education is an advantage
