Bar Supervisor - Time Out Market - C2i

C2i is recruiting for Time Out Market, to build the team behind one of Abu Dhabi's most anticipated openings. We're looking for passionate professionals to join us as we prepare to open Abu Dhabi's first Time Out Market — a vibrant new destination for food, culture and entertainment under one roof!

ABOUT THE ROLE

We love what we do – and it shows! Time Out Market is the division of Time Out that brings our food and cultural experiences to life for our guests, readers and clients.

Our Bar Supervisor / Head Bartender leads the bar team on the floor — setting the standard behind the bar, developing the bartenders and barbacks, and making sure every guest receives outstanding service and product on every visit.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Leading the team

• Supervise daily bar operations to ensure efficient, smooth and consistent service
• Lead, motivate and support the bartender and barback team to achieve operational excellence
• Conduct daily shift briefings and communicate operational updates to team members
• Schedule and assign daily duties and responsibilities
• Train and coach team members on service, drink recipes, product knowledge and SOPs
• Monitor workflow and allocate tasks across the team throughout the shift
• Foster teamwork, professionalism and a positive work environment

Running the bar

• Ensure all opening, operating and closing procedures are completed to company standards
• Maintain drink quality, presentation and consistency across every order and every bartender
• Work the bar during peak service, leading by example on speed, accuracy and guest engagement
• Manage stock levels, inventory, product rotation, par levels and wastage
• Monitor POS transactions, payment handling, bartender banks and daily sales activity
• Support the achievement of sales targets through upselling and effective service
• Monitor bar equipment and report maintenance issues promptly
• Maintain line of sight and atmosphere control across the bar area throughout the shift
• Complete shift handovers, reports and operational records

Compliance and guest care

• Ensure full compliance with safety, health, hygiene and all applicable liquor laws
• Uphold responsible alcohol service across the team — ID checks, recognising intoxication, and refusing service courteously when required
• Monitor potentially intoxicated or disruptive guests and escalate to management
• Handle guest feedback, concerns and escalations professionally and effectively
• Report incidents of theft, vandalism, violations or safety hazards to management immediately

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Minimum of five years experience in hospitality in a high-volume bar, with at least one to two years in a supervisory or head bartender role
• Strong knowledge of beer, wine, spirits and classic and contemporary cocktail technique
• Proven experience developing and coaching a bar team
• POS system confidence, with strong numerical accuracy across cash handling and bar banks
• Solid understanding of stock control, par levels and wastage management
• Ability to communicate effectively and assertively in English, verbally and in writing, with staff, clients and the public
• Strong organisational, problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Ability to maintain composure, personal integrity and a high level of confidentiality
• Ability to handle a fast-paced, busy environment, work under pressure and meet deadlines
• High School Diploma preferred

THE ENVIRONMENT

Restaurant environment with varying levels of noise and crowds depending on guest volume. The role is physically active — extended periods standing, moving at pace, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Varied shifts including days, nights, weekends and holidays. A professional, neat and well-groomed appearance is required at all times.
