Job Description

The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee, beverages, and light snacks while ensuring excellent customer service. This role requires knowledge of coffee brewing techniques, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The Barista should maintain cleanliness, follow safety regulations, and contribute to a welcoming atmosphere for guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Beverage Preparation & Service:
  • Prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks, teas, and specialty beverages according to company recipes and customer preferences.
  • Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment efficiently.
  • Follow proper techniques for grinding, brewing, steaming milk, and latte art.
  • Customize drinks based on customer requests while ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Suggest and upsell additional menu items, such as pastries or food pairings.

2. Customer Service & Experience:

  • Greet customers warmly and take orders accurately.
  • Engage with customers to recommend drinks based on their preferences.
  • Handle customer inquiries and complaints professionally and efficiently.
  • Ensure quick and efficient service, especially during peak hours.

3. Store Operations & Cleanliness:

  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the coffee preparation and service areas.
  • Follow health and safety regulations for food handling, sanitation, and beverage preparation.
  • Restock supplies, including coffee beans, milk, syrups, cups, and other essentials.
  • Ensure all equipment is cleaned and maintained regularly.

4. Inventory & Cash Handling:

  • Monitor stock levels and report shortages to management.
  • Assist in receiving and storing deliveries properly.
  • Handle cash, process payments, and operate the POS system accurately.

5. Teamwork & Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the team to maintain a smooth workflow.
  • Assist colleagues in preparing orders, cleaning, and restocking as needed.
  • Follow company policies and guidelines to maintain service standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Previous experience as a Barista or in a similar role in a coffee shop, caf, or restaurant.
  • Strong knowledge of coffee types, brewing methods, and espresso-based drinks.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask efficiently.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain consistency in beverage preparation.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to stand for long hours and handle physically demanding tasks.

Work Conditions:

  • Flexible working hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Standing for extended periods and working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Handling hot beverages and operating coffee machines safely.
