Job Purpose:
The Beach Cleaning Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and overseeing all beach cleaning and environmental maintenance activities to ensure beaches remain clean, safe, aesthetically appealing, and compliant with municipal, environmental, and client requirements. The role involves managing manpower, equipment, contractors, waste disposal operations, and sustainability initiatives while maintaining high service standards and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management
- Develop and implement daily, weekly, and monthly beach cleaning schedules.
- Manage all beach cleaning activities, including manual and mechanical cleaning operations.
- Ensure beaches are free from litter, debris, seaweed accumulation, hazardous waste, and other pollutants.
- Monitor cleanliness standards and ensure compliance with agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and KPIs.
- Conduct routine inspections and audits of beach areas.
- Coordinate emergency cleaning operations following storms, public events, or environmental incidents.
Team Management
- Lead, supervise, and motivate beach cleaning supervisors, team leaders, and cleaning operatives.
- Develop manpower deployment plans to ensure optimum workforce utilization.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and training.
- Ensure proper attendance, discipline, and productivity management.
- Promote a positive safety and environmental culture among team members.
Equipment & Asset Management
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of beach cleaning machinery and equipment.
- Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed.
- Monitor equipment utilization and recommend replacements or upgrades when required.
- Maintain records of equipment servicing and repairs.
Environmental Compliance
- Monitor compliance with local municipality and environmental authority requirements.
- Ensure proper segregation, collection, transportation, and disposal of waste.
- Support beach sustainability programs and marine conservation initiatives.
- Coordinate activities associated with Blue Flag Beach standards or similar environmental certifications when applicable.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and relevant authorities regarding beach cleaning operations.
- Attend site meetings and present operational reports.
- Address client concerns and implement corrective actions promptly.
- Build positive relationships with local authorities, environmental agencies, and community stakeholders.
Reporting & Budget Control
- Prepare operational reports on cleanliness performance, manpower, equipment utilization, and environmental compliance.
- Monitor operational costs and manage budgets effectively.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost optimization.
- Track service delivery KPIs and report performance trends.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Facilities Management, Environmental Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
- Professional certifications in Facilities Management, Environmental Management, or HSE are advantageous.
- Valid UAE driving license preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in Facilities Management, Environmental Services, Waste Management, Municipal Cleaning, or Coastal Maintenance.
- At least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Experience managing large blue-collar workforces in outdoor environments.
- Experience with beach cleaning equipment and municipal/environmental compliance requirements is preferred.
