BIM Modeler - MEP

About this role:

MEP System Modeling & Coordination

Develop and manage 3D BIM models for irrigation, drainage, outdoor lighting, water supply, and HVAC systems in landscaping projects.

Ensure that MEP models integrate seamlessly with landscape, civil, and structural designs.

Maintain BIM Level of Detail (LOD) standards for accurate representation at different project phases.

Clash Detection & Conflict Resolution

Perform clash detection using Navisworks, Solibri, or BIM 360 to identify and resolve conflicts between MEP, civil, and structural elements.

Coordinate with landscape architects, civil engineers, and electrical teams to ensure systems are properly aligned and free from interference.

Irrigation & Water Supply System Modeling

Model irrigation networks, including pipes, valves, sprinkler heads, and drip irrigation systems.

Ensure water supply systems align with sustainable landscaping practices and water conservation regulations.

Coordinate pump station layouts and water tank placement in landscape models.

Drainage & Stormwater Management

Develop stormwater drainage systems, including surface drainage, underground piping, soakaways, and retention ponds.

Integrate permeable surfaces, bioswales, and rain gardens into the BIM model.

Ensure compliance with local stormwater management regulations and sustainability guidelines.

Outdoor Lighting & Electrical System Integration

Model landscape lighting systems, including bollard lights, pathway lights, uplighting, and security lighting.

Coordinate power distribution and electrical load calculations for outdoor lighting elements.

Ensure compliance with energy efficiency standards and smart lighting technology integration.

Renewable Energy & Smart Infrastructure Integration

Assist in solar-powered lighting and water pumping system designs.

Work on smart irrigation and automated sensor-based MEP systems for efficient landscape management.

Integrate IoT-based monitoring for MEP components in landscape models.

HVAC & Mechanical Systems for Outdoor Spaces

Model outdoor cooling systems, including misting systems, shading devices, and air circulation units.

Ensure mechanical systems comply with thermal comfort requirements for urban landscapes.

BIM Documentation & As-Built Models

Generate detailed construction drawings, schematics, and schedules from BIM models.

Ensure accurate as-built models are provided for post-construction maintenance.

Maintain consistent documentation for irrigation, drainage, and electrical system layouts.

Compliance with Industry Standards & Regulations

Ensure all MEP designs align with ISO 19650 BIM standards, local building codes, and environmental guidelines.

Work with regulatory bodies to obtain necessary approvals for MEP components in landscape projects.

Automation & Computational Design

Use Dynamo scripting to automate repetitive modeling tasks.

Implement parametric design techniques for optimizing MEP layouts in large-scale landscape projects.

Collaboration & Team Coordination

Work closely with MEP engineers, landscape architects, and civil engineers to deliver coordinated designs.

Participate in BIM coordination meetings to ensure alignment between all disciplines.

Continuous Improvement & Training

Stay updated on advancements in BIM technology, MEP modeling, and sustainable landscape solutions.

Train and support project teams on BIM best practices and MEP coordination techniques.
