Since its inception in 2010, National Reference Laboratory (NRL) has expanded from a single standalone reference laboratory to a network of 12 state-of-the-art facilities across the United Arab Emirates. NRL provides world-class diagnostic services to the M42 network and partners with more than 250 clients from a wide range of market segments, including private and government hospitals, medical centers and clinics, corporate organizations, and other reference laboratories.
We are seeking a skilled Biomedical Engineer to join our Facilities and Biomedical Engineering team. This role is responsible for supporting the full lifecycle of medical equipment, including procurement, installation, maintenance, and calibration, ensuring all devices operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Support the procurement, installation, and commissioning of medical equipment and devices
- Perform preventive maintenance, calibration, and safety checks in line with manufacturer guidelines
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain biomedical equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Maintain accurate records, work orders, and asset data within the biomedical management system
- Conduct inspections and ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., DHA, DOH, JCI)
- Collaborate with clinical teams to provide training and support on equipment usage
- Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for improvement and risk mitigation
- Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of technical libraries and equipment records
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience in biomedical engineering
- Strong knowledge of medical equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations and accreditation standards
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and biomedical asset management systems
- Excellent communication skills in English (Arabic is an advantage)
