About the Role
SAMTAC is looking for an experienced Boiler Technician to join our Service & Maintenance team. The candidate will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of steam boilers and hot water boiler systems across client sites (hospitals, hotels, and commercial facilities) in Qatar. This is a hands-on technical role requiring strong competency in both the mechanical and electrical aspects of boiler systems.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine inspection, servicing and preventive maintenance of steam boilers, hot water boilers, and associated accessories (burners, feed water systems, control panels, safety valves, PRVs)
Diagnose and repair mechanical faults - burners, pumps, valves, pressure vessel components, piping and fittings
Diagnose and repair electrical/control faults - control panels, wiring, sensors, flame safeguard systems, BMS/automation interfaces where applicable
Carry out combustion tuning, water treatment checks, and blow-down procedures
Conduct annual overhauls, tube cleaning, hydrotesting, and support third-party calibration/certification of safety devices
Respond to emergency breakdown calls and carry out root-cause diagnosis
Maintain accurate service records, maintenance logs and client reports
Ensure all work is carried out in line with safety standards and manufacturer guidelines
Liaise with site engineers/supervisors and provide technical guidance to junior technicians/helpers where required
Support installation, commissioning and testing of new boiler systems as needed
Required Qualification & Experience
Minimum 10+ years of hands-on experience as a Boiler Technician, with demonstrated expertise on steam boilers and hot water boilers
Strong, proven competency in both mechanical and electrical fault-finding and repair (not mechanical-only or electrical-only profiles)
ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or related trade (or equivalent recognised trade certification)
Boiler operation/maintenance certification (trade test certificate or equivalent) preferred
Familiarity with major boiler brands (e.g. Cochran) and steam accessory brands (e.g. Spirax Sarco, TLV) is an advantage
Prior experience maintaining boiler systems in hospitals, hotels, or similar critical facilities preferred
Key Skills
Combustion systems, burner tuning, and fuel (diesel/gas) line troubleshooting
Control panel wiring, flame safeguard controls, and sensor/instrumentation diagnostics
Water treatment and feed water system knowledge
Reading and interpreting P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and OEM manuals
Strong problem-solving ability and willingness to attend emergency call-outs
Good communication skills for client-facing site visits
