Job Description

About the Role

The Business Analyst (Construction) supports AMANA's innovation agenda by assisting in the analysis of construction processes, physical building systems, and assembly methods to inform product-led and manufacturing-informed construction initiatives.

Embedded within the Innovation Division, the role focuses on learning and contributing to the development of physical products, construction systems, and build methodologies, applying Manufacturing Experience (MX) principles such as prototyping, testing, iteration, and standardisation under the guidance of senior team members.

The role works closely with site operations, engineering, design, manufacturing, and supply chain partners to gather insights, document findings, and support improvement initiatives, helping translate construction realities into better-informed systems, repeatable solutions, and scalable construction approaches.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support AMANA's construction innovation and productisation initiatives through structured analysis and research.
  • Assist Innovation leadership in identifying opportunities to improve buildability, standardisation, and repeatability of construction systems.
  • Contribute to the definition of construction-led use cases and value propositions for new systems, methods, and products.
  • Support prioritisation discussions by providing data, observations, and insights from projects, trials, and testing activities.
  • Analyse construction systems, assemblies, and interfaces with guidance from senior team members, focusing on:
  • Buildability
  • Tolerances and interfaces
  • Ergonomics and safety
  • Manufacturing and assembly constraints
  • Translate construction and engineering insights into clear product, system, and performance requirements.
  • Support the development and evolution of physical construction systems, including:
  • Modular and prefabricated assemblies
  • DfMA-based components
  • Integrated or unitised building systems
  • Assist in reviewing how systems are designed for manufacture, transport, and site assembly.
  • Support evaluation of production methods, tolerances, and assembly sequences.
  • Contribute to the development of manufacturing-informed construction standards and system definitions.
  • Support analysis of how projects are delivered across design, manufacture, logistics, and site assembly stages.
  • Engage with operations, engineering, and site teams to identify buildability challenges, inefficiencies, and risks.
  • Document construction logic, sequencing, constraints, and system interfaces.
  • Support planning and execution of product prototypes, mock-ups, and pilot assemblies within the Innovation Hub.
  • Assist in capturing feedback, observations, and performance data from physical testing, trials, and pilot installations.
  • Support iterative refinement cycles using MX principles (solvemaketestlearn).
  • Work closely with design and engineering teams to support constructability considerations in system and product development.
  • Collaborate with the Business Analyst (Technology) to ensure physical systems are supported by appropriate digital tools and workflows.
  • Provide construction system input to inform digital models, automation logic, and data requirements.
  • Support constructability reviews, value engineering, and system optimisation exercises.
  • Assist in identifying risks related to buildability, safety, and compliance, escalating issues to senior team members where required.
  • Support risk identification related to buildability, safety, compliance, and scalability of construction systems.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and site operations.
  • Experience or strong interest in modular, prefabricated, or industrialised construction systems.
  • Analytical and systems-thinking mindset applied to physical products and processes.
  • Ability to assess buildability, interfaces, tolerances, and performance.
  • Comfortable working hands-on with engineers, site teams, manufacturers, and suppliers.
  • Clear communicator able to document physical systems, processes, and construction logic.

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil / Structural Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • 35 years of experience in construction delivery, engineering, design coordination, or construction innovation roles.
  • Exposure to modular construction, DfMA, or manufacturing-influenced construction environments is strongly preferred.
  • Experience participating in trials, prototypes, or R&D-style initiatives is an advantage.
