Role Overview

The Business Critical Application Director will oversee the strategy, performance, and continuous evolution of all business-critical applications and digital platforms across our attractions and entertainment assets.

You will lead an experienced team managing complex ecosystems, ensure seamless system operations, drive innovation, and align applications with business strategy and guest experience priorities.

This role requires a strong blend of leadership, application management expertise, and foundational software development experience to effectively challenge vendors, guide technical decisions, and ensure robust system architecture.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Technology Alignment

  • Lead the design, delivery, and optimization of business-critical applications across ticketing, retail, F&B, asset management, time attendance, booking systems, and guest experience platforms.
  • Align application roadmaps with business goals, operational needs, and digital transformation initiatives.

Software Development & Technical Oversight

  • Leverage prior software development experience to evaluate technical proposals, understand integrations, review architectures, and guide complex troubleshooting.
  • Ensure that development, enhancements, and integrations follow best practices, coding standards, and secure design principles.

Business Requirements & Innovation

  • Partner with business stakeholders to capture, refine, and prioritize requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for new functionalities that enhance efficiency, guest satisfaction, and competitive advantage.

Performance Optimization & Integration

  • Oversee application performance, stability, and security.
  • Collaborate with Digital & Technology teams to ensure smooth integrations and aligned technology infrastructure.

Systems in Scope

You will manage and optimize platforms including:

Vivaticket, InfoGenesis, Eatec, Maximo/T-eam, Kronos, Gantner, Tunn3l, Viva, BMI, CMS, VemCo, SenseTime, FacePass.

Risk, Reporting & Strategic Support

  • Conduct risk assessments, prioritize initiatives, and support strategic decision-making with data-driven reports and insights.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and mentor a team of application managers and specialists.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Vendor Management & Financial Accountability

  • Manage key vendor relationships, negotiate service agreements, and ensure SLA compliance.
  • Support budgeting, procurement, and cost-optimization initiatives.

Essential

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Digital & Technology, or related fields
  • Software development background (hands-on experience earlier in career)
  • 8+ years in Applications Management
  • 3+ years in Applications Development
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of business operations
  • Proven experience leading application teams
  • Experience with APIs, integrations, and system enhancements

Desirable

  • MBA
  • PMP/Prince2
  • Programming skills (any language)
  • Knowledge of GOF design patterns
  • Experience with DBMS, data modeling, reporting services
  • Experience with ticketing, POS, supply chain, procurement or financial systems
  • Experience managing B2B/B2C digital platforms
