Job Description
About the position
Westoceanic Services has worked with clients in the UAE since 2018, managed until now from our India office. We are establishing a permanent team here to grow our maintenance and operations services business across the region. This is the first senior appointment in that plan.
The nature of the work
Success in this role depends on relationships built well ahead of any formal enquiry. By the time a requirement is published, the outcome is often already shaped. Your task is to be present and trusted long before that point.
You will spend your time with plant managers, maintenance heads, contracts and procurement teams — understanding what they are planning, where their current arrangements fall short, and how we can be considered when the work comes up.
Main responsibilities
- Identify facilities across the region where maintenance, operations or servicing requirements are approaching, and make early contact
- Maintain active, personal relationships with operators, plant owners, main contractors, project management consultancies and technical advisors
- Where possible, contribute to how requirements are defined before they are formally issued
- Complete vendor registration and approval formalities with accounts we intend to pursue
- Take enquiries through commercial discussion to signed agreement, supported by our operations and costing teams
- Stay informed on client expansion plans, planned plant shutdowns and competitor activity, and use that to direct effort where it counts
- Keep a realistic pipeline and give the Director a straight account of where each pursuit stands
Regions and industries
Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain. Clients are in oil and gas, petrochemicals, power and utilities, renewable energy, heavy industry, shutdown and overhaul work.
What we are looking for
- Ten years or more selling maintenance, operations or industrial services in the Gulf
- A personal contact network you built and still use, reaching decision-maker level
- Long-term agreements you closed yourself, of substantial value — you should be comfortable discussing them in detail
- Genuine depth in at least one Gulf market; Saudi Arabia counts for a great deal with us
- The ability to hold a technical conversation and a commercial one equally well
- A degree in engineering, business or similar
- UAE driving licence and readiness to travel frequently
- Arabic is welcome but not essential
What we offer
- Competitive salary plus performance-linked incentive on contracts won
- Visa, medical insurance, annual leave as per UAE labour law
- The autonomy to build a business line rather than inherit one
