Business Development Manager

World Marine Egypt | Cairo

About the role

World Marine Egypt is a maritime services and shipping agency headquartered in Port Said, serving the Suez Canal and East Mediterranean corridor. We are expanding beyond our core agency business into new service lines, including logistics and supply for the Egypt-Libya energy corridor, safety equipment distribution, and commercial brokerage. We are hiring a Business Development Manager to build and run this expansion. This is not a sales support role. You will own the growth agenda end to end, reporting directly to the Managing Director.

Qualifications

  • Strong business development, sales, and account management skills, with the ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships.
  • Experience in the maritime, shipping, logistics, or related industries, ideally with exposure to port operations or canal transit services.
  • Proficiency in market research, competitive analysis, and opportunity assessment to support strategic growth initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with international stakeholders.
  • Solid organizational and planning abilities, including pipeline management, reporting, and follow-up on commercial opportunities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Maritime Studies, Logistics, or a related field; relevant professional certifications are a plus.
  • Comfort working on-site in Heliopolis, with readiness for occasional travel to ports and client locations as needed.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in Arabic and additional languages commonly used in shipping is advantageous.
  • High level of integrity, customer focus, and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to providing responsive, high-quality service.

What we are looking for

  • 5+ years in business development, commercial, or chartering roles in maritime services, oil and gas services, energy logistics, or industrial equipment distribution
  • Demonstrated record of opening new markets or business lines, not managing existing accounts
  • Existing network in at least one of: East Mediterranean shipping, Egyptian oil and gas services, foreign energy sector, or industrial/HSSE equipment supply
  • Fluent Arabic and English, written and spoken
  • Willing to travel regularly to various Egyptian port cities
  • Self-directed: this role has a mandate and a Managing Director behind it.

Nice to have

  • Chartering or shipbroking experience
  • Experience negotiating manufacturer distribution agreements
  • HSSE product knowledge or experience selling certified equipment into IOC-standard buyers
