The Opportunity

Our client is a premier global agri-commodity merchant with an annual turnover exceeding US$3 billion. They specialize in trading and processing more than 30 commodities, including pulses, grains, oilseeds, animal feed, edible nuts, and sugar, across a network of 50 countries. In recent years, the company has expanded its focus to include the development of innovative plant-based ingredients and products. They are currently seeking an experienced leader to join themas Business Lead - Edible Nuts in Dubai, UAE.

Responsibilities:

  • Own and manage the full P&L for the cashew and sesame seed business of the assigned region.
  • Develop and execute trading strategies to maximise profitability and market share while making independent decisions on pricing, risk and volume.
  • Originate cashew and sesame seeds from West Africa and sell into assigned markets, managing price negotiation, contracts, logistics and risk.
  • Ensure consistent supply pipeline for direct export and internal processing, originating directly from farmers, cooperatives and local agents in West Africa.
  • Oversee and manage local teams in West Africa (buying agents, quality control, logistics coordinators), ensuring effective performance, training and accountability.
  • Leverage both existing and future processing assets in West Africa to drive profitability—improving margins, securing supply and capturing value—while collaborating with operations teams.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and above in Business, Supply Chain or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 12 years of progressive experience in physical agricultural products, with 5–8 recent years trading cashew and sesame seeds.
  • Proven track record of profitable trading performance and P&L ownership.
  • Established, extensive global client networks.
  • Prior experience managing local teams on the ground in West Africa.
  • Excellent spoken and written English; conversational French is highly advantageous for communicating with local teams.
