The Senior Business System Manager - Retail IT is responsible for optimizing, supporting, and enhancing enterprise-level business systems, including ERP platforms and cloud infrastructure, to drive operational excellence and strategic growth across Omni-channel retail operations.
This role demands deep functional and technical expertise to ensure effective management and continuous improvement of critical applications. The manager will play a pivotal role in driving digital transformation, ensuring system agility, robust business continuity, and financial stewardship through cloud cost optimization, vendor management, and budget handling.
Strategic Roles and Responsibilities:
Provide strategic functional and technical leadership for enterprise business systems, encompassing core ERP modules (e.g., merchandising, planning, buying, supply chain, P2P processes) and associated applications, ensuring optimal performance and alignment with business objectives.
Oversee the effective support and continuous improvement of critical business applications, covering key areas such as master data management, items, locations, pricing, costing, purchase orders, allocations, transfers, inventory management, replenishment, and markdown management, ensuring platform-agnostic best practices.
Lead requirement analysis and solution design for new projects and enhancements across diverse ERP and cloud initiatives, collaborating with business users to define comprehensive Business Requirement Documents (BRD).
Collaborate with System Integration (SI) partners, review technical solutions, and guide teams through all project phases, ensuring alignment with strategic goals, effective project delivery, and adherence to architectural standards.
Manage complex data integrations using various enterprise integration patterns and technologies between core business systems (e.g., ERP, WMS, SIM) and cloud services.
Manage relationships with IT vendors and service providers, ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met, and optimizing vendor performance and contracts.
Oversee and manage the IT systems budget, including forecasting, expenditure tracking, and ensuring financial discipline for projects and operational costs.
Demonstrate advanced technical proficiency in enterprise database programming (e.g., PL/SQL), Unix/Linux environments, shell scripting, and advanced SQL performance tuning, with a proven ability to adapt these skills to diverse technology stacks.
Functional and Technical Knowledge:
Expertise in enterprise ERP systems, supporting core business functions (e.g., planning, buying, merchandising, P2P processes) for Omni-channel retail
Deep understanding of retail business processes and their technological enablement across various platforms.

Integration and Customization:
Functional knowledge of enterprise batch processes and integration patterns.
Understanding of customizations, extensions, and custom integrations between core ERP applications, third-party systems, and cloud services.
Problem Solving:
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills focused on root cause analysis and preventive fixes across complex system landscapes.
Project Management:
Drive requirement analysis and solutioning for new projects and enhancements across ERP and cloud domains.
Work with business users to complete Business Requirement Documents (BRD) for new projects and demand.
Conduct solution walkthrough sessions with SI partners and guide the team across all project phases.
Review technical solutions, efforts, costs, and timelines provided by SI partners.
Manage all phases of projects from Design, Build, Test, and Deploy.
Effective project and stakeholder management skills.
Technical Skills:
Deep knowledge in AWS Platform and Services (API Gateway, Lambda, RDS Post Gres, Dynamo DB, Secret Manager, SQS, SNS, S3, IAM, Cognito, Elastic Cache, Event Bridge)
Deep hands-on experience with ERP programming (e.g., Oracle PL/SQL), Unix/Linux environments, shell scripting, and advanced SQL performance tuning, with a demonstrated ability to apply these skills across various technology stacks. Experience with Oracle Forms is a plus.
Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns and technologies for connecting diverse business systems (e.g., ERP, WMS, SIM) and cloud services.
Educational Qualification:
Bachelors/ Masters or Engineering in Computer Science or relevant field.
Relevant Oracle Retail Functional certification, cloud certifications (e.g., Oracle Retail, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are preferred.
Years of Experience:
12-15 years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years of Retail ERP
Must have experience in integrations to multiple in-house and external systems.
