General DescriptionAs a Business Unit Controller, you will be responsible for controlling, reporting and analyzing all aspects of financial matters for the Trading related Business Units, namely Upstream & Industrial Solutions divisions. This is a key role in in the aforementioned Business Units and it will report functionally to the Finance Director, but operationally to the Business Unit Managers and will be a key leadership role within the Business Units. The role will be pivotal in implementing appropriate robust controls and timely reports to support the Business Units growth.
Responsibilities:- Being a business partner to the Business Units, through providing key analysis to non-finance managers within the Business Units, contract and bank guarantee review, commercial decision-making support, etc.
- Preparing the monthly management report including key data relating to financial performance of the assigned Business Units within the set timelines
- Promoting an attitude of cost control within the Business Units through effective reporting and challenging of costs
- Taking control of the overall budget process for the Business Units Preparing monthly forecasted financial statements with support from the respective project teams
- Reviewing the monthly revenue and cost accruals for the Business Units
- Preparing balance sheet reconciliations for the Business Units and providing submissions to the Business Unit Managers and Finance Director for approval
- Ensuring strict adherence to robust internal controls and international financial reporting standards
- Carrying out variance analysis against budget forecast, and providing explanations for significant variances
- Supporting external audits and tax submissions where required
- Taking overall control of accounting and finance matters pertaining to the Business Units
- Managing and mentoring 2 BU Accountants
- Maintaining and contributing to the Companys philosophy of continuous improvement. Essentially this will involve taking ownership & responsibility for processes, systems and work in general, continually seeking ways to improve these
- Ad-hoc tasks as assigned by the Finance Director
Required Competencies:- High performing hands-on individual with experience of managing staff
- In depth and up-to-date knowledge of IFRS
- Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence decision making
- Experience of implementing change within the Finance department
- Problem solving and ability to manage complexity
- Possessing solid financial acumen and a nimble learning ability
- Collaborative and possessing a strategic mindset
- Experience in MS Office and in a standard ERP (preferably MS Dynamics)
Qualifications / certificates:- Proven working experience as Finance Controller
- Accounting / Finance degree
- Appropriate professional qualification (CIMA or CMA preferred)
- 10+ years of relevant work experience (Oil & Gas desirable), with minimum 2 years as Finance Controller
