Cable Jointer

Key Responsibilities

• Perform jointing and termination of LV/MV/HV electrical cables as per project requirements and competency/authorization level.
• Prepare cables for jointing, including cutting, stripping, insulation preparation and connection.
• Install cable joints, terminations, glands and associated accessories.
• Carry out cable laying, dressing and connection activities.
• Identify and support troubleshooting of cable faults and damaged connections.
• Assist with cable testing and commissioning activities.
• Read and follow electrical drawings, cable schedules and technical instructions.
• Inspect cables, joints and terminations for defects or abnormalities.
• Carry out repair and replacement of faulty cable sections and accessories.
• Use cable jointing tools and electrical testing equipment safely.
• Follow Permit to Work (PTW), LOTO, PPE and electrical safety procedures.
• Maintain records of cable jointing, testing, repairs and maintenance activities.
• Coordinate with electricians, technicians, engineers and site supervisors.

Requirements

• ITI/Diploma/Technical qualification in Electrical Engineering/Electrical Trade.
• 2–5 years of relevant cable jointing experience.
• Hands-on experience with LV/MV cables; HV experience is an advantage where required.
• Knowledge of XLPE/PVC cables, cable joints, terminations, glands and connectors.
• Familiarity with electrical testing and fault-identification procedures.
• Strong understanding of electrical and site safety.
• Utility/power distribution/substation experience preferred
