The CAD Designer is involved in all phases of a design project and includes the preparation of technical and design drawings for the design or renovation of internal spaces, including structural alterations, furnishings, fixtures and fittings, lighting and general design detailing. Designs and feasibility studies are produced for hospitality, commercial, leisure and residential properties. The CAD designer prepares and executes all documentation and drawings overseeing these aspects of the project from beginning to end and coordinates closely with the design team to ensure all information is documented thoroughly.

The CAD Designer will plan and organise the design drawings of all projects assigned. Projects may take place in a range of settings, including:

• hotels
• office spaces
• retail locations, e.g. malls, shops, cafes, forecourts;
• leisure spaces, e.g. cinemas, entertainment complexes;
• residential developments;
• residential properties;
• public buildings, e.g. museums and civic buildings.

• Developing initial drawings on CAD and setting project schedules for the project and what is required and managing the CAD drawing and documentation process and team

• Preparing detailed working drawings, designs, plans, models and schemes, using computer-aided design (CAD) software

• Maintaining quality of drawings, details and standards

• Surveying buildings

• Working in a team with other designers

• Supervising work at the design stage and on-site when and if required

• Working closely with quantity surveyors to establish costs and work schedules on larger projects.

• Working with designers, architects and other design professionals including manufacturers and contractors to determine the best detailed solutions.

• Keeping up to date with new developments in the design industry

• Train on Revit to understand the software and program
