Job Title:
Capital Gains Tax Valuation Expert
Role Summary:
The Capital Gains Tax Valuation Expert will be responsible for conducting accurate, policy-aligned valuations of assets and liabilities involved in complex corporate transactions, including restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, and related-party dealings. This role demands advanced expertise in accounting and valuation, coupled with a solid understanding of both Qatari and international tax regulations and financial reporting standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Academic Credentials:
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in accounting is required.
- Master's degree in accounting is preferable.
- Advanced knowledge in International Accounting Standards (IAS) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), with particular emphasis on IFRS 13, IFRS 3, and IAS 36.
Professional Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in tax auditing, with at least 5 years of service in a government tax authority or similar regulatory body.
- Proven expertise in valuation of assets and liabilities using internationally recognized methods:
- Market Approach
- Income (Revenue) Approach
- Cost Approach
- Solid understanding and hands-on experience in evaluating capital gains and losses arising from:
- Corporate restructurings
- Mergers and acquisitions
- Related-party transactions
- Familiarity with valuation methodologies in the context of tax assessments, audits, and dispute resolution.
- Demonstrated application of accounting and valuation skills in real-world restructuring scenarios involving intercompany transactions.
Key Knowledge Areas:
- In-depth knowledge of the Qatari Income Tax Law, specifically:
- Article (3) of Law No. 24 of 2018
- Articles (5) and (16) of the Executive Regulations
- Familiarity with international tax frameworks, including the OECD Transfer Pricing Guidelines.
- Previous exposure to tax regimes within the GCC region is highly preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
- High-level analytical and technical proficiency in evaluating financial data for taxation purposes.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to interpret and apply complex tax and accounting legislation.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including legal, finance, and audit stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Arabic language proficiency is a plus.
Preferred Certifications (Optional but Advantageous):
- Professional valuation credentials such as:
- Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV)
- Chartered Business Valuator (CBV)
- Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA)
- Or equivalent internationally recognized certifications.
- IFRS Certification from a recognized institution.
