Carpentry Supervisor

We are seeking an experienced Carpentry Supervisor to oversee and coordinate all carpentry and formwork activities for major Oil & Gas EPC projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of formwork, shuttering, concrete support structures, and carpentry-related works in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, and HSE requirements.

YOUR ROLE

As Carpentry Supervisor, you will be responsible in the performance of the following but not limited to duties and responsibilities;

Planning & Coordination

• Review construction drawings, specifications, method statements, and project schedules related to carpentry and formwork works.
• Plan and organize daily and weekly carpentry activities to meet project milestones.
• Coordinate with Civil Engineers, Construction Managers, Steel Fixing Supervisors, QA/QC, and HSE teams.
• Allocate manpower, tools, and materials to maximize productivity.
• Forecast requirements for timber, plywood, formwork systems, hardware, and consumables.
• Ensure timely mobilization of carpenters, foremen, and equipment.

Site Execution & Technical Supervision

• Supervise all carpentry and formwork activities for foundations, equipment foundations, pipe racks, buildings, retaining walls, culverts, tanks, and other reinforced concrete structures.
• Oversee fabrication, erection, alignment, bracing, and dismantling of formwork systems.
• Ensure dimensions, levels, line, and plumb comply with approved drawings and specifications.
• Verify formwork integrity, stability, and readiness prior to concrete pouring activities.
• Coordinate closely with steel fixing and concrete teams to ensure smooth workflow.
• Monitor productivity and workmanship to meet project quality and schedule requirements.
• Conduct daily toolbox talks and ensure work readiness before execution.

Workforce Supervision & Development

• Supervise carpentry foremen, chargehands, and carpentry crews.
• Provide technical guidance and practical solutions for formwork and construction challenges.
• Monitor workforce attendance, productivity, discipline, and performance.
• Coach and train personnel on best practices and safety procedures.
• Promote teamwork and high standards of workmanship across the workforce.

Quality Assurance & Documentation

• Ensure compliance with approved method statements, ITPs, and project QA/QC requirements.
• Coordinate inspections with QA/QC personnel prior to concrete pours.
• Ensure formwork installations meet project specifications and construction tolerances.
• Prevent NCRs through proactive quality control measures.
• Maintain records of completed works, inspections, and material usage.
• Verify materials delivered to site comply with approved specifications.

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

• Enforce strict adherence to HSE policies and site safety procedures.
• Conduct hazard identification, risk assessments, and Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
• Ensure personnel use appropriate PPE and safe working methods.
• Monitor lifting activities, working-at-height operations, and manual handling practices.
• Report incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions immediately.
• Ensure compliance with Permit-to-Work (PTW) requirements and client safety standards.

Communication & Reporting

• Submit daily progress reports, manpower allocations, and productivity updates.
• Identify construction challenges and recommend solutions to avoid delays.
• Participate in coordination meetings with project management and other discipline supervisors.
• Communicate client, consultant, and management instructions effectively to the workforce.

Material & Resource Management

• Monitor inventory of timber, plywood, formwork systems, scaffolding accessories, and consumables.
• Ensure efficient utilization of materials and minimize wastage.
• Coordinate with procurement and stores for timely supply of materials.
• Ensure proper storage, handling, and maintenance of carpentry tools and equipment.
• Verify formwork systems remain serviceable and safe for use.

Concrete Pouring & Handover Support

• Ensure formwork readiness prior to concrete placement activities.
• Support inspections, audits, and pre-pour approvals.
• Monitor formwork performance during and after concrete pouring.
• Assist with project handover documentation and final inspections.
• Ensure timely closure of punch-list items related to carpentry and formwork works.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Experience

• 10-12 years of experience in carpentry, shuttering, and formwork works.
• Minimum 5 years in a supervisory role.
• Proven experience in Oil & Gas EPC projects, industrial facilities, infrastructure, and heavy civil construction projects.
• Experience managing large carpentry teams and complex concrete construction activities.

Education and Certifications

• Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, or equivalent technical qualification.
• Additional certifications in construction supervision will be an advantage.

Skills and Competencies

• Strong knowledge of conventional and system formwork solutions.
• Ability to read and interpret structural and construction drawings.
• Knowledge of reinforced concrete construction methods and practices.
• Understanding of construction sequencing, formwork design principles, and concrete pouring requirements.
• Familiarity with Oil & Gas HSE requirements, PTW systems, and risk assessment procedures.
