Job Description

Chemical Technologist | Catalysts, Adsorbents & Chemical Products

(Chemicals / Petrochemicals)

Location: Dubai, UAE

Office-based with international project involvement (MENA, Asia)

About the Company:

INIX Group is an international trade and logistics group with more than 17 years of experience in building resilient supply chains and managing international procurement for industrial clients worldwide.

We provide end-to-end outsourcing solutions from sourcing and technical selection to delivery and implementation for companies operating in the chemical, petrochemical, and industrial sectors.

INIX Group is scaling its international trade and technology-driven operations through subsidiaries and partners in China, India, Africa, the CIS, and the Middle East, with a centralized management hub in Dubai (UAE).

Who We Are Looking For:

We are looking for a hands-on Chemical Technologist who:

  • works with real industrial processes, not theoretical models only;
  • has deep practical understanding of catalysts and adsorbents in chemical and petrochemical applications;
  • is able to select chemical products based on process conditions and feedstock, not marketing claims;
  • can translate customer and process requirements into test programs, technical conclusions, and defendable recommendations.

This is a role at the intersection of technology, laboratory testing, and technical presales.

You are responsible for ensuring that proposed solutions work in real operating conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Catalysts and Adsorbents (Core Focus)

Selection and evaluation of catalysts and adsorbents for chemical and petrochemical processes, including:

- zeolitic, oxide, metal-based, noble metal catalytic systems;

- adsorbents for drying, purification, sulfur removal, and trace contaminant removal.

Analysis of operating conditions:

- temperature, pressure, GHSV / LHSV;

- feedstock composition, poisons, impurities, moisture.

Development of technical recommendations:

- catalyst/adsorbent system selection;

- bed configuration (grading, guard layers);

- startup, operation, regeneration, and operation with changing feedstock.

2. Other Chemical Products for Chemical & Petrochemical Plants

- Corrosion and scale inhibitors.

- Surfactants, demulsifiers, cleaning and flushing chemicals.

- Water treatment and wastewater treatment reagents.

- Specialty chemicals for startup, shutdown, cleaning, and preservation.

Lubricant and Fuel Additives (separate focus area):

- AW / EP additives, antioxidants, depressants, viscosity modifiers;

- formulation and selection of additive packages for target lubricant and fuel properties;

- evaluation of compatibility with base oils, fuels, elastomers, coatings, and equipment materials.

3. Laboratory and Pilot Testing

- Planning and execution of laboratory and pilot tests for catalysts, adsorbents, chemical products, and additives.

- Simulation of real operating conditions (gas and liquid purification, adsorption, catalytic processes, water treatment, lubricant and fuel performance).

Work with analytical and testing equipment:

- GC / HPLC, spectrophotometry;

- gas and liquid analysis, impurity control;

- basic lubricant and fuel testing (viscosity, oxidation stability, low-temperature properties, etc.).

Interpretation of results:

- activity, selectivity, capacity, degradation rate;

- efficiency of chemical products and additive packages.

4. Technical Reporting and Project Support

Preparation of structured technical reports and conclusions.

Technical support of presales and project activities:

- technical sections of proposals;

- participation in technical discussions and solution defense with customers.

Interaction with manufacturers and suppliers:

- analysis of datasheets and specifications;

- validation of declared parameters through internal testing.

Requirements:

  • Education - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
  • Catalysis, petrochemistry, physical chemistry, analytical chemistry, or related fields.

Work Experience:

3 - 5 years of practical experience as:

  • chemical technologist / chemical engineer;
  • R&D or laboratory specialist;
  • technical service / application engineer.

Mandatory experience in:

  • Catalysts and/or adsorbents (testing, selection, operational support)
  • Chemical products used in chemical or petrochemical processes
  • Interaction with pilot units or industrial installations

Languages:

  • English - Strong working proficiency (B2+/C1)
  • Required for technical documentation, correspondence, meetings.

Professional & Personal Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking
  • Attention to detail in experiments, data, and operating conditions
  • Ability to clearly explain complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders
  • Customer and result-oriented mindset: process stability, performance, and risk reduction

Additional Information:

  • Work from a modern office in Dubai.
  • Participation in international projects across MENA and Asia.
  • Professional growth within an international trade and technology-focused group.
  • Competitive compensation package, discussed individually based on experience and expertise.
