Chief Executive Officer – Trading
We are looking for an experienced Chief Executive Officer – Trading to lead and grow our trading business across regional and international markets.
The role will be responsible for setting the overall trading strategy, driving profitable business performance, managing risk, and ensuring strong governance and compliance across all trading activities. The CEO will work closely with senior leadership, the Board, trading teams, finance, risk, legal, supply chain, and operations to achieve the company's commercial and financial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the overall strategy and growth of the trading business across global and regional markets.
- Take full responsibility for the trading business P&L, including revenue, margins, cost, and profitability.
- Oversee trading portfolios, market positioning, pricing strategy, and business performance.
- Establish strong risk management, governance, and compliance frameworks for all trading activities.
- Monitor market trends, geopolitical developments, and supply-demand changes to identify new opportunities.
- Build and maintain senior relationships with suppliers, buyers, brokers, exchanges, financial institutions, and regulators.
- Lead and develop a high-performing trading leadership team.
- Present business performance, risks, opportunities, and future plans to the Board and senior stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Master's degree or MBA is preferred.
- Minimum 20+ years of experience in commodity, financial, or physical trading markets.
- Minimum 10 years in a senior executive or C-suite leadership role with full P&L responsibility.
- Strong hands-on trading or trading desk leadership experience is mandatory.
- Proven experience leading large-scale trading businesses across multiple markets and geographies.
- Strong knowledge of commodity markets, derivatives, hedging, trading platforms, and risk management systems.
- Excellent commercial judgement, negotiation skills, and stakeholder management ability.
- Experience working with senior trading teams, boards, regulators, financial institutions, and key commercial partners.
Preferred Skills
- Strong understanding of trading governance, compliance, sanctions, and international regulations.
- Experience with ETRM/CTRM platforms, SAP, BI tools, and financial modelling.
- Ability to identify market opportunities and convert them into profitable trading strategies.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and lead high-performing teams.
