The CFO leads the financial direction of the retail organization, ensuring strong financial governance, profitable growth, and effective capital allocation. The role partners closely with merchandising, supply chain, and store operations to optimize margins, manage inventory, and support omnichannel expansion.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for financial strategy, financial planning and analysis, financial reports, company audits, compliance, and bank relationships. They will collaborate with the CEO and the executive team to make decisions regarding company's financial strategy and operations.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Set and drive the company's financial strategy aligning budgets, investments, and capital structure with longterm goals.
- Advise the CEO and board on financial risks, opportunities, and strategic decisions.
- Lead corporate planning including forecasting, scenario modeling, and multiyear financial roadmaps.
- Evaluate mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and partnerships with financial rigor.
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee all financial reporting (monthly, quarterly, annual) ensuring accuracy, compliance, and clarity.
- Manage budgeting processes across departments, ensuring accountability and alignment with strategy.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS/GAAP, tax regulations, and audit requirements.
- Maintain internal controls to protect company assets and prevent financial risk.
Performance & Operational Excellence
- Monitor financial performance through KPIs, dashboards, and variance analysis.
- Optimize cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to support operations.
- Improve financial processes and systems for efficiency and scalability.
- Drive costoptimization initiatives without compromising growth or quality.
Leadership & Organizational Development
- Lead and develop the finance team, ensuring strong capabilities in accounting, FP&A, treasury, and compliance.
- Build crossfunctional alignment with operations, HR, sales, and product teams.
- Shape company culture around financial discipline, transparency, and accountability.
Experience
- 15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including at least 57 years in a senior finance role (Finance Director, VP Finance, Head of Finance, or equivalent).
- Demonstrated success overseeing full finance functions: accounting, FP&A, treasury, audit, tax, and compliance.
- Experience in managing budgets, capital allocation, and financial planning for midsize or large Retail or FMCG organization.
- Operational finance experience such as cost optimization, cash flow management, and process improvement.
- Industry-specific experience (e.g., Retail, FMCG, Manufacturing, Multi Country, Regional Scope) depending on the company's sector.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree (MBA or Master's in Finance)
- Professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, CFA, CMA, is preferred.
- Knowledge of IFRS/GAAP, corporate finance, taxation, treasury, and financial reporting standards.
- Strong command of financial modeling, forecasting, and analytics tools (ERP systems, BI platforms, advanced Excel, etc.).
