Job Purpose
To lead the development, implementation, and continuous enhancement of technical vehicle inspection standards, policies, and systems across all vehicle categories, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. The role ensures the integrity and quality of inspection processes through strategic oversight, data-driven decision-making, and alignment with emerging technologies such as electric, hybrid, and autonomous vehicles. It directly supports RTA's mission of promoting road safety, innovation, and operational excellence in vehicle licensing.
Roles and Responsibilities
Strategy
- Lead the development and review of technical inspection policies, standards, and legislative frameworks for all vehicle types, including electric, hybrid, and autonomous vehicles, ensuring alignment with national laws and international best practices.
- Oversee the preparation of technical studies, benchmarks, and feasibility assessments to support the expansion and modernization of inspection services, including future-ready workflows for smart and alternative energy vehicles.
- Guide the integration of advanced monitoring technologies (AI, IoT, machine learning) into the technical inspection ecosystem to enhance remote supervision, predictive maintenance, and system accuracy.
- Participate in strategic planning for inspection center capacity, site selection, and equipment upgrades based on demand forecasting and demographic trends.
- Provide expert technical recommendations to senior leadership on regulatory changes, system enhancements, and innovation initiatives in vehicle inspection.
Operations
- Supervise the calibration, maintenance, and compliance of technical inspection equipment across all authorized centers, ensuring adherence to approved standards and timely audit closures.
- Conduct regular field audits and inspections of vehicle technical inspection centers to verify compliance with safety, environmental, and operational requirements.
- Review and approve technical specifications for inspection devices, equipment suppliers, and center infrastructure to ensure quality, reliability, and scalability.
- Monitor inspection outcomes and data integrity, identifying anomalies and initiating corrective actions to maintain system accuracy and public trust.
- Coordinate with Dubai Police and other regulatory bodies during joint inspections to verify vehicle safety, dimensions, axle load, and driver compliance.
Product/Process Improvement
- Develop and implement standardized technical procedures, classification systems, and inspection protocols for all vehicle categories, including emerging technologies.
- Propose and lead improvements to inspection processes, tools, and digital systems to increase efficiency, reduce inspection time, and improve first-attempt pass rates.
- Drive the creation of a centralized technical inspection specification manual and digital repository for consistent application across all centers.
- Support the integration of inspection data into the Smart Supervision Center and licensing systems to enable real-time monitoring and performance analytics.
- Lead awareness workshops and training programs for inspection center staff to ensure consistent application of standards and continuous improvement.
Physical Working Conditions
- Primarily office-based with regular field visits to vehicle technical inspection centers, service providers, and partner facilities for audits, inspections, and system validation
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of professional experience.
