Fractional Chief Strategy Officer
4-Month Engagement - Immediate start
A founder-led financial services group is seeking a highly experienced strategy executive to support a group-wide corporate strategy cycle running from September to December.
This is not a traditional consulting engagement. The business is not seeking a consultancy firm, external strategy authors, or implementation partners. The strategy will be developed internally by the executive leadership team. The requirement is for a senior individual to work alongside the CEO and C-suite, helping to design, orchestrate and facilitate a rigorous strategy process from diagnosis through to Board decision-making and executive scorecard alignment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and orchestrate the overall corporate strategy process
- Facilitate executive discussions, workshops and decision-making forums
- Provide independent challenge to assumptions, analysis and recommendations developed by the leadership team
- Pressure-test financial, commercial and strategic inputs, including contribution economics and business case assumptions
- Support the development of robust, costed strategic options for Board consideration
- Help ensure strategic decisions are translated into executive priorities and scorecards
- Act as a trusted, independent senior advisor throughout the process
Ideal Candidate
- A combination of top-tier strategy consulting training and at least four years of in-house experience leading corporate strategy, corporate development or enterprise transformation
- Experience within regulated financial services, including brokerage, payments, wealth management, exchanges, capital markets or similar sectors
- Experience operating on the management side of a structured institution rather than solely in an advisory capacity
- Sufficient seniority and executive presence to engage credibly with CFO, CTO, Product and other C-level leaders as a peer
- Previous experience as a Chief Strategy Officer, Head of Strategy, Head of Corporate Development, or a comparable executive role
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to challenge executive-level assumptions and analysis
- Comfort operating in a founder-led environment, including the confidence to provide candid and constructive challenge where required
