The Opportunity

A highly innovative, AI-native financial technology business is undertaking a confidential search for a Chief Technology Officer to lead its global technology and artificial intelligence agenda.

The organisation operates at the intersection of AI, financial markets, data science and private-market investment intelligence, developing sophisticated technology designed to support complex investment and underwriting decisions.

This is a senior executive appointment with significant influence over the organisation's technology strategy, AI research agenda, product evolution and long-term technical architecture.

The successful candidate will work directly with the CEO and senior leadership team and will be expected to bring both exceptional technical depth and genuine commercial understanding of private markets.

The Mandate

The CTO will take ownership of the organisation's global R&D and technology strategy, establishing the technical vision required to scale a highly sophisticated AI platform.

The mandate encompasses:

• Defining and executing the long-term AI and technology roadmap.
• Leading multidisciplinary teams spanning AI/ML, data science, software engineering and research.
• Driving the application of advanced AI methodologies to private-market investment, underwriting and financial decision-making.
• Ensuring the platform's architecture, infrastructure, security, scalability and reliability can support significant growth.
• Translating advanced research into commercially valuable products and capabilities.
• Establishing a high-performance R&D culture across multiple locations.
• Working closely with the CEO, board and executive leadership on technology strategy, investment and growth.
• Representing the organisation with sophisticated technical, investment and institutional audiences.
• Communicating and defending complex technical architectures to senior stakeholders across global financial markets.

Critical Requirement: Private Markets Expertise

Direct and substantial private-markets experience is an absolute requirement for this appointment.

The successful candidate should have a deep understanding of how technology, data and AI can be applied to areas such as:

• Private equity
• Venture capital
• Private credit
• Alternative investments
• Asset management
• Investment underwriting
• Investment research and due diligence
• Portfolio and risk analysis
• Financial modelling and predictive analytics

Candidates whose experience is exclusively within general technology, consumer AI, enterprise software or academic research without meaningful exposure to private markets and investment decision-making will not be considered.

The ideal individual will understand both the technical complexity of advanced AI and the commercial realities of institutional investment and private-market underwriting.

Academic & Intellectual Profile

Academic pedigree is a major component of this search.

The organisation is seeking an intellectually exceptional technology leader with a strong academic foundation in areas such as:

A track record of publications, research, patents, conference participation, university collaboration or recognised technical thought leadership would be highly advantageous.

The CTO should possess genuine hands-on understanding of advanced AI and data technologies, including a number of the following areas:

• 10+ years experience across AI, machine learning, data science, quantitative technology or related disciplines.
• Significant leadership experience across engineering, AI and/or data science organisations.
• Substantial private-markets / investment-industry experience.
• Advanced degree from a highly regarded institution; PhD strongly preferred.
• Proven experience taking advanced AI or quantitative research into production environments.
• Experience leading complex technology and R&D programmes.
• Strong understanding of modern AI architecture and infrastructure.
• Experience operating at executive/board level.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder-management capabilities.
• International experience and the ability to operate across sophisticated global financial markets.

What Will Differentiate the Successful Candidate

The search is particularly focused on individuals who can demonstrate that they have bridged the gap between frontier AI research and institutional investment applications.

The ideal candidate is therefore unlikely to be a traditional enterprise CTO or a purely academic AI researcher.

They will be someone who understands:

The organisation is open to relocating exceptional international candidates to Doha.

This is an international executive appointment, and candidates currently based in other global financial or technology centres will be considered where their experience aligns closely with the mandate.
