The Civil BIM Modeler is responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining BIM models for civil and infrastructure projects. The role includes preparing 3D models, construction drawings, quantity extraction, clash detection, and multidisciplinary coordination to ensure project requirements are met accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
BIM Modeling & Drafting
- Develop and maintain accurate 3D BIM models for civil and infrastructure works.
- Prepare detailed construction drawings, shop drawings, and as-built drawings from BIM models.
- Create and modify alignments, corridors, grading models, surfaces, and utility networks.
- Ensure BIM models comply with project BIM standards, specifications, and client requirements.
- Maintain model accuracy and consistency throughout project phases.
Coordination & Clash Detection
- Coordinate BIM models with structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.
- Perform clash detection and model validation using BIM coordination software.
- Resolve model conflicts and coordinate design updates with project stakeholders.
- Participate in BIM coordination meetings and technical workshops.
Quantity Take-Off & Documentation
- Extract quantities and generate reports from BIM models.
- Support quantity surveying and project controls teams with accurate model-based quantities.
- Produce model-based schedules, sections, profiles, and detailed drawings.
- Maintain BIM documentation and revision records.
Technical Support
- Support engineers in developing design alternatives and construction methodologies.
- Assist site teams by providing BIM-based construction support.
- Review consultant models and incorporate approved design changes.
- Support digital construction and project visualization activities.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure BIM deliverables comply with project standards and BIM Execution Plans (BEP).
- Perform model quality checks and coordinate model audits.
- Ensure compliance with company BIM procedures and industry best practices.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, BIM Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–7 years of experience in BIM modeling for infrastructure and civil projects.
- Experience in roads, grading, utilities, tunnels, bridges, or site development projects is preferred.
