Project Overview

Expo 2030 Riyadh is a global platform where countries, organizations, and individuals will come together to collaborate. Under the theme Foresight for Tomorrow, the Expo promotes sustainable development, innovation, and transformative thinking. The event will be held from October 2030 to March 2031 and is expected to welcome over 40 million visits.

The 6 km² Masterplan outlines a comprehensive framework for participation and infrastructure at the Expo. The exhibition space, totaling 491,100 m² GFA, can accommodate up to 197 participating countries and 29 international organizations. Working collaboratively with our customer, Expo 2030 Riyadh Company (ERC), Bechtel will manage the infrastructure program which comprises early works, utilities, and publicly accessible spaces like streets and parks. Our scope on the six-square-kilometer site will transition into a mixed-use legacy development to serve the community after the six-month event is over. The project's master plan leverages international sustainability standards for urban afforestation, treated water, and energy sources.

Job Summary

In this role, you will conduct design coordination and reviews and also client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project's civil/structural aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, evaluation, and constructability reviews of civil/structural components and processes. Your technical expertise will ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project's civil/structural aspects are met.

Major Responsibilities

  • Schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the civil/structural engineering work for multidisciplinary project, include the review of original designs layouts, details, drawings and specifications for structures, buildings, roadways.
  • Participates in the design, development and modification of Civil/Structural components and processes utilizing relevant Procedures, design standards and guides, Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs) and Design Control Check List (DCCL)
  • Coordinates work and collaborate with other engineering disciplines
  • Evaluates, selects, and applies standard Civil/Structural engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications.
  • Checks structural engineering deliverables, such as steel and concrete calculations, specifications
  • Analyzes problems with conflicting design requirements, sketches ideas and possible solutions
  • Assists in the preparation of quantity take-offs for proposals, forecasts, and change orders
  • Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals
  • Coordinates Civil/Structural engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groups
  • Prepares conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals
  • Provides technical assistance to other Civil/Structural personnel and interacts with project functions and customer
  • Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project Civil/Structural requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution

Education And Experience Requirements

  • Requires bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or international equivalent)
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience

Required Knowledge And Skills

  • Experience of delivering large urban infrastructure projects or large civil engineering projects and Public Realm works is required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate delivery experience in a fast-paced environment with multiple interfaces.
  • Experience in KSA / Middle east / GCC is required.
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills in English, Arabic speaking is advantageous.
