Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Quantity Surveying & Take-offs: Perform detailed and accurate quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications for civil, architectural, and structural items.
  • Cost Management: Prepare, update, and monitor project budgets, BOQs (Bills of Quantities), and cash flow forecasts.
  • Subcontractor Management: Prepare tender documents, analyze offers, negotiate contracts, and manage subcontracted activities.
  • Valuation & Payment: Prepare and verify interim payment applications (IPAs) for subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring compliance with work completed on-site.
  • Variation & Claims: Identify, analyze, and negotiate variation orders and potential claims to manage cost changes.
  • Reporting: Prepare regular progress, financial, and cost variance reports for management and clients.
  • Coordination: Liaise with site engineers, architects, and technical office teams to resolve design conflicts (RFIs) and update budgets accordingly.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
  • Experience: Typically 7–12years of relevant experience in quantity surveying, with at least 2–3 years in a senior or lead role within a contracting or consultancy firm.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MS Office Suite (especially Excel). Experience with QS software like CostX or PlanSwift is often required.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction contracts, technical specifications, and procurement processes. [1, 2, 3, 4]
