Civil Section Head - Railway

About the Role

We are looking for a Civil Section Head to lead civil maintenance activities across stations, depots, and service facilities within a major high-speed railway project in Egypt. The role will ensure safe, reliable, and high-quality maintenance in line with approved maintenance plans, safety requirements, and asset management standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise civil maintenance activities, including building fabric, structural finishes, waterproofing, drainage, and facility works.
• Establish and maintain civil maintenance procedures, standards, method statements, and risk assessments.
• Provide technical leadership for fault diagnosis, corrective works, and maintenance strategies.
• Ensure the quality and timely execution of preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
• Manage civil maintenance teams, workforce planning, training, and competency requirements.
• Coordinate with planning, warehouse, and other maintenance functions to ensure effective resource availability.
• Monitor asset performance, recurring defects, and maintenance trends, and recommend improvement actions.
• Supervise subcontractors, review their technical documents, monitor work quality, and approve work completion records.
• Ensure accurate maintenance records, work orders, defect reports, and technical documentation within the CMMS.
• Support cross-functional technical coordination and contribute to maintenance performance reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in civil/building maintenance, including at least 5 years in a supervisory or section head role.
• Experience in major infrastructure, transport, railway, metro, airport, or similarly regulated projects.
• Strong knowledge of building finishes, waterproofing, drainage, and structural maintenance.
• Experience managing maintenance teams and multiple sites.
• Experience working with EPC/specialist subcontractors and remedial works.
• Knowledge of ISO 55000/55001 and maintenance documentation practices is preferred.
• Familiarity with railway safety and risk assessment requirements is an advantage.
• Good command of written and spoken English; Arabic is an advantage.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
