We are currently recruiting for an Civil Substation - Taqa Competent Engineer for our client to be based out of their Dubai office.
Job Purpose:
The Civil Substation TAQA Competent Engineer (Night Shift) will be responsible for overseeing and executing nighttime civil engineering activities within live TRANSCO substations under the WASIT Extension Project. This role requires strict compliance with TAQA/TRANSCO safety protocols, effective coordination with GE and subcontractors, and ensuring uninterrupted, safe progress of work during night operations.
Responsibilities
- Obtain necessary night shift permits from Transco for civil works.
- Inform Transmission Control Coordination Centre (TCC) when accessing live Transco stations.
- Continuous supervision and daily TBT as per permit conditions.
- Coordinate efficiently between other subcontractors.
- Represent the company in front of Transco and follow all HSE requirements.
- Record entry/exit with Transco shift operators/engineers.
- Respect work limits as per permits.
- Verify permits are within competency and correctly filled.
- Follow safe behaviors; no smoking or unsafe conduct.
- Familiarize with local emergency procedures.
- Ensure safety documents are available onsite.
- Report any incidents/accidents to the company and Transco.
- Close or extend Transco permits on time.
- Work 6 days/week (48 hrs) with weekly off (usually Sunday).
- Entitled to UAE public holidays.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Civil Substation Taqa Competency required
- Min. 10 years experience, prior TAQA approval required.
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Strong organizational, analytical, communication skills and design skills
