Claims Handler

Kalimbassieris Maritime seeks to employ a Claims Handler for its Alexandria office, Egypt.

We are a leading marine consultancy firm offering both in-depth technical expertise and claims handling services. We act as Marine Consultants, Surveyors, P&I Correspondents and insurance average agents. Our clients are the international marine insurance markets, H&M underwriters, P&I Clubs, whitelist ship registries and other shipping commercial interests.

Established in Greece in 1979, today we have 12 offices throughout the Mediterranean, Middle East and Black Sea and are the biggest network in the region.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced P&I Claims Handler to join our team, managing marine liability claims on behalf of P&I Clubs, shipowners and charterers. The successful candidate will handle claims from notification through to resolution, liaising with surveyors, lawyers, agents, and Club representatives, while maintaining a positive, can-do attitude and a strong sense of teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle day-to-day P&I claims from first notification to closure.
• Liaise with local and international clients (insurers, shipowners, brokers) and provide professional, prompt advice throughout the handling of claims files
• Co-ordinate with in-house claim handlers, surveyors and external lawyers to progress resolution of claims
• Support communication and coordination with the Group's head office in Greece on legal/claim/administration issues.

Required Skills/Qualifications/Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Law and/or Maritime Business Studies
• Previous 2-4 years experience in marine claims handling or related background (shipping operations, logistics, general insurance) will be a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English is a must; additional languages are an advantage
• Willingness to undergo comprehensive on-the-job training in P&I and marine claims
• Strong analytical skills, ability to prioritize multiple tasks under time pressure and attention to detail
• Good interpersonal and written communication skills, professional client-facing manner
