Job Description
Working at Lockton
At Lockton, we're passionate about helping our people achieve their ultimate potential. Our people are curious, action-oriented, and always striving to make ourselves and those around us better. We're active listeners working to ensure understanding and problem solvers developing innovative solutions. If you can see yourself delivering excellent service to clients, giving back to our communities and being a part of our caring culture, you belong here.
Purpose of the role
The Client Manager sits within the Strategic Risk Solutions (SRS) team of the Corporate Risks Department in Abu Dhabi, and is responsible for managing and servicing a portfolio of large corporate accounts. The role is the client's primary point of contact for all broking and placement matters and takes full ownership of day-to-day operational delivery — including renewal planning, contract review, insurer negotiation, and premium and compliance oversight — while working under the strategic direction of the Client Director. The Client Manager directs the Account Handler and Administrator assigned to each account, engages the Senior Relationship Officer (SRO) where required, and is accountable for the account's adherence to Lockton's placement strategy, audit (QAFA), and regulatory (CBUAE) requirements.
Your Responsibilities
Client Relationship & Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the client across all broking and placement matters; clients must be formally made aware of this designation.
- Manage all client and insurer communications, with the Client Director, Account Handler, and Administrator copied accordingly. On producer accounts, keep the producer appraised of all courses of action.
- Review day-to-day client and insurer requests, provide direction to the Account Handler, and ensure prompt and accurate resolution in line with any agreed SLAs.
- Maintain regular structured engagement with clients through monthly WIP meetings, either in-person or remote as per client preference, ensuring a minimum of one in-person meeting with each client per year.
Broking, Placement & Renewal Management
- Take full ownership of contract reviews, advisory services, and the use of the Senior Relationship Officer (SRO) where required.
- Lead renewal planning and execution under the Client Director's guidance, including preparation of pre-renewal submissions, underwriter engagement, and negotiation, utilising the Account Handler wherever required.
- Issue Renewal Notices to clients a minimum of 120 days prior to renewal; submit underwriting data to insurers no later than 60 days prior to renewal. For project policies, share notices 60 days before expiry and submit to insurers 30 days prior. This task may be delegated to the Account Handler once the email content and renewal questionnaires have been checked and agreed by the Client Manager.
- Review existing insurance programmes and portfolios, including benchmarking of coverage, limits, deductibles, pricing, key exclusions, and wording quality — taking into account risk profile, claims history, gaps, overlaps, and areas for improvement.
- Identify and evaluate optimisation opportunities, including programme harmonisation, integration across selected account clusters, and efficient capacity procurement; provide structured recommendations on programme architecture to the Client Director.
- Adhere to the Lockton placement strategy for all new business and renewals; any proposal to the client must be discussed and agreed with the Client Director (or producer) in advance.
- For renewals placed with Tier 3 or Tier 4 markets, seek to migrate the risk to Tier 1 or Tier 2 markets wherever feasible.
- Act as the single point of engagement (SPOE) for all Broking Slips, Quotations, and final Policy Documents (including wordings) sourced by the Account Handler before sharing with insurers or clients.
- Ensure all New Business, Renewal, and Endorsement transactions are logged on Lockton Pulse in a timely manner.
Compliance, Audit & Governance
- Take full ownership of QAFA Audits and ensure full compliance with Lockton's internal audit requirements.
- Maintain full compliance with local regulatory requirements (CBUAE) and all Lockton compliance procedures.
- Track validity of client SLAs and ensure SLA renewal requests are submitted 120 days in advance.
- Keep track of the team leave calendar and proactively manage Account Handler backup cover in advance.
Coordination & Collaboration
- Coordinate global insurance programmes and liaise with Lockton's global producer network as applicable.
- Coordinate with Lockton MENA for all reinsurance-driven placements.
- Engage and coordinate with Lockton MENA, Lockton Consultancy, and the Bid Management Team for RFPs and tenders.
- Coordinate with the Motor & Personal Lines and Employee Benefits teams and ensure inclusion in client communications where joint service is required.
- Support the Finance team with premium collection escalations, ensuring premiums are collected prior to any NOC expiry date and preventing policy cancellations due to non-payment.
- Actively participate in and support the implementation of Lockton Pulse to enhance team efficiency and service delivery.
- Collaborate with the wider GI team to meet retention and new business placement targets.
- Support the Client Director in building and maintaining Tier 1, 2, and 3 insurer relationships.
Required Qualifications
- A thorough understanding of corporate risks broking for large corporate accounts in a multinational broker, including renewal planning, contract review, and insurer negotiation.
- Ability to build and maintain good business relationships with clients, insurers, and associates.
- Ability to manage time, prioritize and ensure that deadlines are met without compromising quality.
- Protects the confidentiality of information learned by performing position duties.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with cross-functional departments.
- Proficient computer skills specifically in Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook) and similar software applications.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrates strong adaptability and actively seeks opportunities for professional growth and development.
