Job Description - Cloud Architect (SAP S4 HANA)
This is a 12 months contract role to start with.
Summary
We are seeking an experienced Cloud Architect (SAP) to lead the architecture, design, and implementation of cloud-based SAP landscapes supporting enterprise digital transformation initiatives. The successful candidate will define cloud architecture strategies, oversee SAP workload migration and modernization, and ensure secure, scalable, and highly available cloud platforms aligned with business and regulatory requirements.
Working closely with Enterprise Architects, SAP Functional and Technical Consultants, Infrastructure Engineers, Security teams, and business stakeholders, the Cloud Architect will drive cloud adoption, establish architectural standards, and provide technical leadership across complex SAP transformation programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end cloud architecture for SAP workloads across public, private, and hybrid cloud environments.
- Develop cloud strategies and target-state architecture for SAP S/4HANA, SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), SAP HANA databases, and SAP application landscapes.
- Lead cloud migration, modernization, and transformation initiatives for SAP environments.
- Evaluate and recommend appropriate cloud services, infrastructure platforms, and architecture patterns to optimize performance, resilience, scalability, and cost.
- Design secure, highly available, and disaster recovery solutions in accordance with enterprise architecture and cybersecurity standards.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure, Security, DevOps, and SAP delivery teams throughout solution design and implementation.
- Define cloud governance, architecture standards, operational best practices, and technical roadmaps.
- Support infrastructure automation using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Review solution designs, perform architecture assurance, and provide technical guidance during project delivery.
- Conduct cloud capacity planning, performance optimisation, monitoring, and cost management activities.
- Ensure compliance with organisational governance, security frameworks, audit requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Produce architecture documentation, technical design documents, migration plans, and operational runbooks.
- Mentor technical teams and provide subject matter expertise on SAP cloud architecture and emerging cloud technologies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in enterprise infrastructure, cloud architecture, or SAP technology.
- Minimum 5 years of experience designing and implementing SAP cloud solutions.
- Demonstrated experience delivering enterprise-scale SAP cloud transformation programmes.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in SAP S/4HANA architecture and SAP landscape design.
- Experience with SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP).
- Experience designing SAP solutions on one or more major cloud platforms: Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS)Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Strong knowledge of SAP HANA database architecture and administration.
- Experience with SAP Basis administration and system architecture.
- Experience with hybrid cloud and multi-cloud environments.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, or container-based platforms is advantageous.
- Understanding of networking, identity and access management, encryption, backup, disaster recovery, and high availability architectures.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation frameworks.

- SAP Certified Technology Specialist or SAP Certified Professional.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
- Google Professional Cloud Architect.
- TOGAF Certification (preferred).
