Opportunity Overview

Our client is a growing B2B agency seeking a skilled Cloud Data Engineer to design and maintain scalable data pipelines on Microsoft Azure. You will build and manage the data infrastructure that supports reporting and business decisions across the organisation. This remote role suits an engineer who enjoys turning complex data into reliable, well-governed systems.

Role Description

As Cloud Data Engineer, you will design, build, and optimise data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and related Azure services. You will manage cloud storage solutions, develop ETL and ELT processes, and write complex T-SQL for extraction, transformation, and reporting. Working closely with analysts and stakeholders, you will integrate data from multiple sources and automate repetitive tasks. You will also implement data governance and security practices to keep pipelines dependable and highly available.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Pipeline Development - Design, build, and manage robust pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and Functions.
• Data Storage Management - Manage and optimise cloud storage across Azure Data Lake, SQL Database, and Cosmos DB.
• ETL Processes - Develop and maintain ETL and ELT processes for accurate, efficient transfer between systems.
• T-SQL Development - Write, optimise, and maintain complex T-SQL queries for extraction, transformation, and reporting.
• Automation and Visualisation - Automate repetitive data tasks and develop Power BI reporting for business stakeholders.
• Data Integration - Integrate data from varied sources, ensuring secure, scalable processing and storage.
• Data Governance and Collaboration - Implement governance and security practices while collaborating with analysts, scientists, and stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

• Data Engineering Experience - Minimum 2 years of data engineering experience with a strong cloud focus.
• Azure Expertise - Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and Azure SQL Database.
• ETL and Warehousing - Strong grasp of ETL processes and data warehouse design and development.
• T-SQL Proficiency - Ability to write and optimise complex T-SQL queries for reporting.
• Programming and BI - Working knowledge of Python, SQL, Scala, and Power BI (Power Query, DAX).
• Cloud Principles - Solid understanding of cloud computing principles within the Azure ecosystem.
• Education - Degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Bonus Qualifications

• Azure Certification - Relevant Azure certification such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate.
• Strong Communication - Confident communicator able to work with analysts, scientists, and stakeholders.
