Cloud Engineer

Penta Consulting are a technology service provider and leading outsourced partner helping to deliver professional and managed solutions across EMEA.

We are seeking a certified Senior Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer who has personally architected, deployed, and operated production workloads on Google Cloud Platform. The candidate must combine deep GCP service expertise with verified FinOps and billing optimization skills, having personally implemented cost governance frameworks, built billing dashboards, and driven measurable cloud cost reductions. Holding a GCP certification is required; however, it does not substitute for hands–on production experience, which will be rigorously evaluated.

Key Responsibilities

• Personally architect, deploy, and operate scalable, secure, multi–region GCP infrastructure for production workloads.

• Lead GCP cloud strategy: resource hierarchy (org/folder/project), VPC design, Shared VPC, IAM governance, and service account lifecycle.

• Hands–on deployment and management of GKE (Autopilot & Standard), Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, and Compute Engine workloads.

• Own FinOps practice: implement and operate cloud cost governance, budget alerting, right–sizing recommendations, and CUD/SUD purchasing.

• Build and maintain Terraform modules for all GCP infrastructure – from networking and compute to data services and security controls.

• Design multi–region and multi–zone architectures for disaster recovery, latency optimization, and data residency compliance.

• Produce monthly cloud cost reports and trend analyses for engineering leadership and finance, present optimization roadmaps.

• Implement and operate GCP security controls: VPC Service Controls, Cloud Armor WAF, Security Command Center, CMEK, and Binary Authorization.

• Define and enforce resource labeling/tagging standards for accurate cost attribution, chargeback, and showback reporting.

• Mentor engineers on GCP best practices and contribute to cloud governance documentation and internal platform tooling.
