Overview:
The Cloud Solution Expert is a senior, hands-on individual contributor responsible for designing, engineering, and governing enterprise-scale cloud solutions across multi-cloud environments. The role combines deep technical expertise with strong business acumen to translate strategic objectives into secure, scalable, and cost-efficient architectures. The Expert plays a key role in shaping cloud strategy by contributing technical insights, defining architecture standards, and enabling enterprise cloud adoption. The role focuses on delivering high-impact solutions, advancing cloud capabilities, and supporting transformation initiatives through hands-on execution and architectural leadership.
In addition to core engineering responsibilities, the role contributes to governance frameworks, promotes best practices, and engages with stakeholders to ensure cloud solutions are aligned with business priorities and deliver measurable value.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement end-to-end cloud architectures across AWS, Azure, and GCP, ensuring scalability, resiliency, high availability, and performance optimization
- Drive hands-on engineering activities, including prototyping, solution validation, and resolution of complex technical issues
- Develop and maintain standardized, reusable Infrastructure as Code (IaC) modules using Terraform, CloudFormation, and Bicep
- Architect cloud-native and hybrid solutions, including microservices, serverless, and container-based platforms
- Define and promote integration patterns across enterprise systems, including APIs, middleware, and event-driven architectures
- Translate business and technical requirements into actionable cloud architectures and implementation roadmaps
- Contribute to business case development, including TCO, ROI, and cost-benefit analysis, ensuring alignment with architectural decisions
- Define and track success metrics (KPIs/OKRs) related to cloud adoption, performance, and cost efficiency
- Support pre-sales and bid activities through solution design, technical input, and effort estimation
- Ensure alignment of delivered solutions with enterprise architecture standards and digital transformation objectives
- Contribute to the establishment and evolution of Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) practices, frameworks, and artifacts
- Design and implement enterprise landing zones, reference architectures, and security baselines
- Apply governance guardrails for compliance, cost control, identity management, and operational excellence
- Develop reusable accelerators, templates, and architectural blueprints to promote standardization
- Design secure cloud architectures aligned with Zero Trust principles
- Implement IAM, encryption, network security, and threat detection mechanisms
- Ensure solutions comply with relevant regulatory and industry standards (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, NCA)
- Perform architecture reviews, risk assessments, and remediation planning
- Collaborate closely with cybersecurity teams to embed security controls throughout the cloud lifecycle
- Design and implement CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices to enable continuous integration and delivery
- Architect, deploy, and optimize Kubernetes environments (EKS, AKS, GKE) and container platforms
- Promote automation-first approaches across provisioning, deployment, and operations
- Contribute to platform engineering initiatives, including self-service infrastructure capabilities
- Implement observability solutions (monitoring, logging, tracing) to enhance system reliability and performance
- Analyze cloud usage and provide recommendations to optimize performance, scalability, and cost efficiency (FinOps)
- Contribute to the successful delivery of cloud transformation initiatives by providing technical leadership and ensuring adherence to architecture standards
- Identify and mitigate technical risks, dependencies, and constraints within complex environments
- Apply Agile, SAFe, or hybrid methodologies in collaboration with delivery teams
- Review deliverables to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with defined architectures
- Engage with stakeholders, including CTO, CIO, and business representatives, to provide architectural guidance and technical insights
- Communicate complex technical concepts in a clear and business-relevant manner
- Facilitate technical workshops, design sessions, and architecture reviews
- Act as a subject matter expert on cloud technologies, trends, and best practices
- Contribute to building organizational cloud capabilities by sharing knowledge, mentoring peers, and supporting skill development initiatives
- Develop technical documentation, playbooks, and knowledge assets
- Support internal training, certification efforts, and community-of-practice activities.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
- Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)
- Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, or Project/Program Management Certification (PMP, PRINCE2, SAFe, or equivalent) are highly preferred.
Experience:
- 8–12 years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years focused on cloud architecture and engineering
- Proven track record in delivering large-scale cloud transformation programs
- Strong hands-on technical background in building and deploying cloud solutions
- Experience working in complex enterprise or consulting environments.
