Occupation Description

The Commercial Director is responsible for designing, planning, implementing, and monitoring the overall supply chain strategy to maximize efficiency and productivity. This includes overseeing the procurement, tendering, and contracting. He / She shall ensure the harmony and efficiency of service delivery to achieve City Edge's strategic business objective.

Job Scope

  • As a member of the senior management team, He / She shall help develop City Edge overall vision and strategy and contribute to the overall process of corporate management and decision-making to ensure the reflection of City Edge Vision and Mission.
  • In conjunction with the senior management team, lead the implementation of City Edge strategy within the commercial department.
  • Develop and deploy negotiation strategies to achieve favorable outcomes during contract negotiations and dispute resolutions.
  • Lead the negotiation of large-scale contracts with City Edge's contractors and equipment suppliers. Drive great supplier management processes and ownership to support the company's growth.
  • Ensure & maintain contractors, and suppliers of services and works in regards to quality standards.
  • Ensure the company's quality requirements are met with any/all delivery.
  • Develop Tendering and Contracting Strategy for all phases of Projects, highlighting value engineering opportunities to achieve the best value for company expenditure.
  • Ensure that alternate contracting strategies are considered at the earliest stages of technical specification and that commercial factors are fully evaluated in early-stage negotiations and project development decisions.
  • Establish standard contract templates for use in all areas of business including non-disclosure agreements to adapt standard form contracts, in production of design consultant, supervision consultant, service provider and contractor agreements, and agreements of purchase/purchase orders.
  • Effective tender and negotiation of procurement, commercial, and contract deals.
  • Help guide the department and team to achieve its business goals.
  • Regular monitoring of KPIs, constant research of market conditions and trends, and frequent writing of reports to present to stakeholders.

Education and Most Common Work Experience Requested

  • 20+ years of related experience of which a minimum of 5-8 years should be in a similar position/responsibility.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • MBA or Master's Degree in related fields would be a plus.
  • Membership in CIarb or RCIS is a plus.
