Job Description

Job Summary

Mobco Group is seeking a highly accomplished Commercial Director to lead the commercial function across major construction projects in Saudi Arabia. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in commercial management, contract administration, procurement strategy, cost control, and claims management, with a proven track record of delivering large-scale mega projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing commercial strategies, maximizing project profitability, managing contractual risks, and ensuring commercial excellence throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall commercial strategy for large-scale construction and infrastructure projects.
  • Manage all commercial activities from project inception through completion and final account settlement.
  • Oversee contract administration, commercial negotiations, procurement strategies, and subcontract management.
  • Lead cost planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance monitoring.
  • Manage contract variations, change orders, extension of time (EOT) claims, and dispute resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with contract conditions, client requirements, and company commercial policies.
  • Identify commercial risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Monitor project cash flow, cost performance, revenue recognition, and profitability.
  • Provide strategic commercial advice to senior management and project leadership teams.
  • Lead commercial teams, including Quantity Surveyors, Cost Engineers, Contracts Engineers, and Commercial Managers.
  • Support business development activities by reviewing commercial proposals, tenders, and contract documents.
  • Prepare executive commercial reports and present project performance to senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, contractual obligations, and international best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related Engineering discipline.
  • Master's Degree in Construction Management, Commercial Management, or Business Administration (MBA) is highly preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as MRICS, FRICS, PMP, CCM, or equivalent are an advantage.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Minimum 25 years of commercial management experience in the construction industry.
  • An engineering background is mandatory.
  • Proven experience delivering mega projects within leading construction or contracting companies.
  • Extensive experience managing high-value contracts, commercial operations, and project finances.
  • Strong expertise in FIDIC contracts, contract administration, claims management, and dispute resolution.
  • Previous experience working in Saudi Arabia or the GCC region is highly preferred.
  • Strong leadership experience managing multidisciplinary commercial teams.
