Job description:
Role Overview
- Assist senior chefs and Commis 1/2/3 in day-to-day kitchen operations.
- Prepare mise en place: wash, peel, chop vegetables; portion meats; measure ingredients.
- Cook simple dishes (e.g. salads, soups, sandwiches, breakfast plates) under instruction.
Key Responsibilities
- Ingredient Prep & Cooking: Portion, chop, weigh, and mix ingredients; operate stove, fryer, oven, etc.
- Mise en Place & Station Setup: Ensure ingredients and tools are ready before service starts.
- Quality Assurance: Follow recipes accurately, test for doneness, ensure consistent portioning and presentation.
- Hygiene & Safety: Maintain clean work areas, adhere to HACCP and local food-safety regulations (e.g. Dubai Municipality), wash dishes and equipment regularly.
- Stock & Inventory: Assist receiving, storing, rotating stock; monitor expiry dates; report shortages.
- Equipment Maintenance: Use kitchen equipment safely; report malfunctions or hazards.
- Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively; attend briefings and training; support colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 1 year of kitchen experiencepreferably in cafs, casual dining, or hotels in the UAE.

- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and kitchen equipment.
- Strong time management and ability to work under pressure.

Physical & Work Environment
- Comfortable standing/shifting, reaching, and lifting up to 25 lb during shifts.
- Flexibility to work weekends, UAE public holidays, and peak hours in a high-traffic mall environment.
