Commissioning Engineer (SCADA Upgrade) -E&I
Qualification:
Education: Degree in an Engineering discipline (Electrical, Instrumentation, or Control Systems preferred) from a recognized institution.
Total Experience: min 10 years of engineering experience.
Site & Commissioning Experience: min 6years dedicated to on-site installation, pre-commissioning, changeover, and commissioning management of projects specifically for the Oil and Gas industry.
held a similar position on at least one major similar project previously.
Job Description:
-responsible for the safe and systematic handover of the upgraded Wellhead SCADA system. This role focuses heavily on the changeover phase in a live brownfield environment, managing the transition from the legacy system to the new architecture at the Central Control Room (CCR) without disrupting production.
Responsibilities
Planning & Strategy
Develop and approve Commissioning Procedures and Method Statements specifically for SCADA hot-cutovers and migration.
Review engineering design packages to ensure constructability and commissioning of the new SCADA hardware and software.
Execution (Pre-Comm to Start-up)
Manage the execution of Loop Checks and functional testing for Wellhead RTUs and communication links.
Lead the Site Acceptance Test (SAT) and Integrated Site Acceptance Test (ISAT) involving the Master Station and remote sites.
Coordinate the critical Changeover/Migration Strategy, ensuring data integrity and communication reliability between the Wellheads and the USSC CCR.
Troubleshoot complex protocol issues (Modbus/DNP3/OPC) during the integration phase.
Management & Handover
Supervise the vendor and sub-contractor commissioning teams on-site.
Manage the Punch List database, ensuring closure of all Category A items prior to system handover.
Facilitate the final handover dossier to the Client's Operations team, including marked-up As-Built drawings and O&M manuals.
Technical Competencies
SCADA Systems: Expert-level knowledge of SCADA architecture, HMI configuration, and RTU/PLC logic (e.g., Honeywell, Siemens, Aveva).
Brownfield Operations: Proven ability to work in live plants (USSC environment) where permit-to-work (PTW) and SIMOPS (Simultaneous Operations) are critical.
Networks: Strong understanding of industrial networking (Fiber optics, Microwave radio links) and cybersecurity standards (IEC 62443).
