Role Purpose

The Commissioning Site Inspector supports commissioning delivery through site-based verification, inspections, and witnessing activities, ensuring installation and early commissioning works are completed correctly and safely.

This role is primarily site-focused and operates under the direction of a Commissioning Engineer or Senior Engineer.

Key Responsibilities:

L2 – Installation Verification

• Inspect installed systems and equipment for compliance with drawings, specifications, and manufacturer requirements.
• Verify completion of installation checklists and raise defects where required.
• Confirm safe access, labelling, and readiness for energisation.

L3 – Individual Element Commissioning

• Witness element-level commissioning activities.
• Verify local operation, alarms, interlocks, and safeties.
• Record results accurately and report issues to senior staff.

L4 / L5 Support

• Support functional and integrated testing through observation and data capture.
• Assist with preparation of test areas and coordination on site.

Authority & Decision-Making

• No independent sign-off authority.
• Escalates issues and risks to the Engineer or Senior Engineer.

Typical Experience & Skills

• Ideally 5 years site-based experience in MEP or commissioning roles.
• Strong understanding of drawings and installations.
• High attention to detail and safety awareness.

Performance Measures

• Accuracy of inspections and records
• Quality of defect identification
• Compliance with safety procedures
