Role Overview:
The Communications Lead will serve as a critical support function to the regional communications Manager and act as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders, OC teams and external partners. She/he will help manage the flow of work and information between the communications and marketing/operation teams, retained PR agency and other relevant partners. She/he will possess an in-depth understanding of the platform and business, the GCC market landscape, and experience in dealing with media.
The Communications Lead will be responsible in assisting in the development and implementation of the company Communications strategy, building company reputation and supporting employee engagement. Additionally, you will draft or oversee the creation of media releases and content on for media and social media, forge relationships with journalists and key influencers and support in the response to crisis situations - alongside performing fundamental PR and administrative tasks such as reporting, accurate and timely completion of financial processes, planning, monitoring of trending topics, ensuring accurate review of materials, ensuring legal and EA sign of final timely manner and supporting on media meetings and events.
Responsibilities:
Administrative Support
- Support with internal processes and other administrative duties
- Liaise with agency partners and internal teams on daily and periodical reporting
- Cross-reference, approve, and forward invoices to the Accounting Department
- Assist in account budgeting
- Fill out briefing documents to equip PR agency team with necessary information ahead of PR activities
- Review draft media relations materials
- Monitor media monitoring tools / newsletters and provide relevant updates/alerts daily to team
- Participate in and provide support for events / media meetings / demos
Content
- Develop content (written, visual, video) that supports our external and internal communications strategy and vision for a smoke free future (category understanding, corporate reputation)
- Works with other teams (digital marketing, SEO) to ensure content is developed to increase pollination across digital channels
- Work with vendors (e.g., PR agency, media houses, content productions agency) to ensure content is delivered on time and matches the brief.
Industry and Market knowledge:
- Maintain a high understanding of company's business, platform, and competitive landscape
- Keep abreast of news by consuming a diverse range of media daily
- developments and trends affecting the company's industry
- Keep on top of latest global and regional trends and challenges on the platform
- Use software packages, internet, and research facilities to obtain relevant information
- Conduct and manage the flow of research necessary to analyze landscape issues
Agency Liaison:
- Liaise with PR agency on daily tasks
- Communicate with agency in a respectful and efficient manner and demonstrate understanding of Scope of Work and division of labor
- Attend weekly WIP meetings and take ownership of projects / campaigns
- Maintain direct relationships with other partners e.g., SEO agency, media monitoring agency, etc.
Social Media
- Work with community management to deliver social media content calendar
- Liaise with EA and Legal for timely approval of social media content
- Develop bespoke local content
- Work with community management on social media strategy to drive increase in users/followers
Internal Communications
- Assist in the roll out of the internal communications strategy for ME
- Provide support on employee events
- Produce interesting and creative content
- Develop and lead sustainability plan for GCC
- Work with suppliers to deliver our strategy including sustainability initiatives
Planning
- Provide support in campaign planning for pr, social media and digital campaigns
Other
- Proposing creative solutions to aid in campaign strategies
- Maintaining media lists and building relationships with key media
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree (Mass Communication, Journalism, PR, Public affairs or relevant).
- 7-10 years related professional experience
- English and Arabic fluency (reading / writing / verbal)
- Strong verbal and written business communication skills
- Excellent knowledge of public relations best practices, brand management, and media strategies.
- Solid organizational skills and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
