About Owlera

Owlera is an AI-powered career platform that helps students and fresh graduates gain practical experience through internship simulations inspired by real companies.

Participants work on realistic business challenges, receive AI-powered feedback, use modern professional tools, and build portfolio-ready projects that demonstrate their abilities to future employers.

We're looking for curious, visually-minded, and ambitious students to join our Computer Vision Internship and gain hands-on experience building systems that see and understand the visual world — from classic image processing to modern deep-learning vision models.

About the Internship

As a Computer Vision Intern, you'll work on realistic vision challenges involving image classification, object detection, segmentation, and visual recognition — building systems that can analyze photos, video frames, and real-world imagery.

You'll learn how vision practitioners turn raw pixels into intelligent features and products — designing vision pipelines, training deep neural networks, and handling the quirks of real-world visual data.

Responsibilities

* Preprocess and augment image datasets (resizing, normalization, color transformations, synthetic augmentation).

* Build image-classification models for visual recognition tasks.

* Work with convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and vision transformers (ViTs).

* Implement object-detection pipelines (bounding boxes, anchor-free methods).

* Build image-segmentation models (semantic and instance segmentation).

* Train and fine-tune pre-trained vision models (ResNet, YOLO, Detectron2-style architectures).

* Experiment with face detection, facial landmarks, and visual attribute recognition.

* Implement optical character recognition (OCR) prototypes on document images.

* Evaluate vision models with proper metrics (mAP, IoU, precision/recall, F1).

* Handle video data — frame sampling, temporal analysis, and action recognition basics.

* Work with visual embeddings and image similarity / retrieval systems.

* Build simple real-time vision demos (webcam-based detection or classification).

* Visualize feature maps, attention heatmaps, and detection outputs.

* Write clean, readable vision code using Python and libraries like PyTorch, OpenCV, and Ultralytics.

* Document datasets, experiments, and findings clearly.

* Use modern ML tooling (notebooks, experiment trackers, cloud GPUs).

* Learn the fundamentals of convolutions, receptive fields, and visual feature learning.

* Collaborate with other interns on cross-functional AI projects.

* Turn real-world visual problems into trainable computer-vision formulations.

Requirements

* Current student or recent graduate in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field — or a strong self-taught coding portfolio.

* Strong interest in visual AI, image processing, and deep learning.

* Basic programming skills (Python is a plus).

* Comfortable with basic math — linear algebra, probability, and statistics at an introductory level.

* Analytical and logical thinking with close attention to detail.

* Self-motivated and able to work independently on technical challenges.

* Comfortable experimenting, failing fast, and iterating.

* Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar platforms is a plus.

* Previous professional computer-vision experience is not required.

What You'll Gain

* Hands-on experience building real vision systems, not just theory.

* Practical experience with CNNs, vision transformers, and detection/segmentation models.

* Experience training and fine-tuning vision models on realistic tasks.

* Understanding of how vision pipelines are built, evaluated, and improved.

* Practical exposure to PyTorch, OpenCV, YOLO-family models, and experiment tracking.

* Portfolio-ready computer-vision projects built on realistic use cases.

* Personalized AI feedback on your work.

* Professional certificate upon successful completion.

* Mentorship and weekly learning sessions.

* Opportunity to strengthen your portfolio, resume, and interview readiness.
