Configuration Control Engineer

Job Purpose:

Implement and execute the Configuration Management (CM) processes defined by the Configuration Control Manager across engineering programs focused on high-visibility Military MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) programs in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Configuration Engineer performs the day-to-day technical configuration control of military platforms, subsystems, and parts throughout maintenance, engineering design, modification and in-service support—maintaining accurate baselines, processing engineering changes, and keeping the as-designed, as-built and as-maintained configuration of every serviced asset traceable and compliant with Saudi military policies, ISO 9001, ISO 10007, partner agreements, and global MRO best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement the ISO 10007-compliant Configuration Management Plan (CMP) issued by the Configuration Control Manager, applying its procedures to assigned MRO programs and proposing updates as workflows and contractual requirements change.
• Build, maintain and control functional, allocated and product configuration baselines for systems, components, assemblies and documentation in SolidWorks PDM and associated PLM/ERP systems.
• Perform configuration identification (part numbering, naming, effectivity and serial number assignment), change control, status accounting and verification for all product baselines (hardware, software and documentation).
• Process Engineering Change Request (ECRs), Engineering Change Order (ECO) and Deviations: register, classify, perform impact assessment with engineering, and ensure accurate traceability to affected equipment, serial numbers and platform configurations.
• Prepare Configuration Control Board (CCB) change packages, present technical impact assessments, and record decisions in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Prepare CCB agendas and minutes, track action items to closure, and verify that approved changes are incorporated into drawings, technical publications, maintenance data and the physical asset.
• Maintain as-designed, as-built and as-maintained configuration records for every serviced platform and assembly, including modification/Service Bulletin incorporation status by tail, hull or serial number.
• Verify incoming and outgoing asset configuration during intake and delivery of MRO work packages, checking the physical build state against approved baselines, technical orders and maintenance records.
• Release and integrate updated drawings, 3D models, part files and maintenance data into the PDM/PLM environment; enforce SolidWorks file management, revision and release rules in line with configuration policies.
• Conduct Functional and Physical Configuration Audits (FCA/PCA) and regular baseline checks; raise and follow up non-conformances in line with standards and customer expectations.
• Generate configuration status accounting reports, CM metrics and dashboards for program management, the Configuration Control Manager and the client.
• Coordinate with OEMs, design authorities, partners and client configuration points of contact to obtain, understand and apply configuration data, modification instructions and interchangeability/substitution decisions.
• Apply client standards, export control regulations and cybersecurity/data handling rules to all configuration data; maintain the product information library and provide CM tool/process guidance to engineers, technicians and suppliers.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial or similar), Information Systems, or a related technical field.
• Strong hands-on experience with SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM (or equivalent PDM/PLM systems) for configuration identification, change control and release management.
• Working knowledge of CM standards ISO 10007, engineering drawing/data conventions and international defense MRO best practices.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in Configuration Management or engineering data control, with at least 2 years in a military, aerospace or MRO context.
