Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead all on-site construction activities for a large-scale IPP project. The Construction Manager will be fully responsible for supervising the EPC Contractor, managing site technical teams, ensuring HSE compliance, and driving the project through construction, commissioning, and up to Commercial Operation Date (COD)in full alignment with contractual, technical, and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary on-site authority responsible for the performance of technical staff and overall construction quality.
- Ensure full awareness and proper implementation of the PPA, EPC Contract, O&M Agreement, and all related Project Agreements.
- Organize and manage the integrated site team to supervise EPC Contractor progress, workmanship quality, and commissioning activities until COD.
- Oversee inspection witnessing, punch list clearance, mechanical completion certification, turnover package readiness, and commissioning procedures.
- Ensure EPC Contractor's full compliance with HSE rules, regulations, approved Method Statements, and Risk Analyses at all stages of construction.
- Manage site organization including layout, offices, storage areas, and logistics.
- Participate in weekly site meetings, progress meetings, and discipline-specific technical meetings with the EPC Contractor.
- Monitor EPC Contractor activities across all disciplines to ensure timely and coordinated execution of works.
- Provide inputs to the Project Director for monthly progress reports and support invoice verification.
- Verify EPC Contractor site logbooks and issue Owner/Owner's Engineer logbooks.
- In coordination with the Schedule Engineer:
- Track actual progress versus planned schedules.
- Ensure execution of critical path activities as planned and identify opportunities to create schedule margin.
- Analyze works and enforce optimizations where possible.
- Review and approve recovery plans for delayed activities to protect overall project timelines.
- Support preparation of progress reports for senior management.
- Manage daily attendance, working hours, and leave of on-site technical personnel reporting directly to the role, in coordination with HR.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or another relevant Engineering discipline (mandatory).
- Minimum 15 years of overall project/construction management experience.
- At least 8 years of experience in relevant EPC technology, preferably within IPP projects.
- Strong hands-on experience working with EPC Contractors on large-scale projects.
- Proven involvement in at least two full project life cycles, from construction through commissioning.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects of similar size and complexity, with at least one completed construction project.
- PMP certification or equivalent is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of international construction standards, environmental legislation, and industry best practices.
- Fluency in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong IT skills, particularly MS Word and MS Excel.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to analyze and resolve complex technical and site challenges independently.
