Site Nurse
Job Purpose
The Construction Site Nurse is responsible for providing immediate medical care, first aid, emergency response, and occupational health support to workers at the construction site. The role ensures compliance with Labour Law, Ministerial Orders, and site HSE requirements, while maintaining worker health, hygiene, and welfare.
Key Responsibilities
1. Medical & First Aid Services
- Provide first aid and basic medical treatment for injuries, illnesses, and work-related incidents.
- Manage minor injuries (cuts, burns, sprains, eye wash, heat stress, dehydration, etc.).
- Identify serious injuries or illnesses and arrange immediate transfer to hospital or clinic.
- Monitor injured workers during recovery until medical handover is completed.
2. Emergency Response & Incident Management
- Act as a first responder during site emergencies (falls, electrocution, heat stroke, fire, chemical exposure).
- Support Emergency Response Team (ERT) during drills and real emergencies.
- Assist the HSE team during accident investigations by providing medical input and treatment records.
- Maintain readiness of ambulance coordination and emergency contact systems.
3. Occupational Health Monitoring
- Conduct basic health checks (BP, temperature, pulse, oxygen saturation if required).
- Monitor workers for heat stress, fatigue, dehydration, and respiratory issues, especially during summer working hours.
- Support implementation of Midday Break and Heat Stress Management Programs.
- Identify workers unfit for work and recommend temporary work restrictions or rest.
4. Clinic & Medical Room Management
- Maintain a fully equipped site clinic / first aid room as per project and legal requirements.
- Ensure availability, cleanliness, and expiry control of:
- First aid kits
- Medicines
- Stretchers, wheelchairs
- Ice packs, eye wash stations
- Maintain medical equipment calibration and hygiene standards.
5. Medical Records & Documentation
- Maintain daily medical treatment records and injury logs.
- Record:
- Worker name, trade, ID
- Nature of injury/illness
- Treatment provided
- Referral details
- Ensure confidentiality of medical records.
- Submit weekly/monthly medical reports to HSE Manager.
6. Health Awareness & Welfare Support
- Support HSE team during site safety induction, especially health-related topics.
- Conduct health awareness sessions:
- Heat stress prevention
- Hygiene and sanitation
- Use of PPE
- Communicable disease prevention
- Monitor site welfare facilities (toilets, rest areas, drinking water points) and report deficiencies.
7. Compliance & Coordination
- Ensure compliance with:
- UAE Labour Law
- Ministry of Human Resources & Emiratization (MOHRE) requirements
- Project HSE Plan and Client standards
- Coordinate with:
- HSE team
- Site supervisors
- HR department
- External clinics/hospitals
Qualifications & Experience
Mandatory
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Valid UAE DHA License
- First Aid & Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Minimum 23 years of experience, preferably in:
- Construction site
Preferred
- Experience in high-rise or villa projects
- Knowledge of construction hazards and emergency response
- Basic understanding of HSE systems and procedures
