Job Description
WSP in the Middle East are seeking a Consultant Fire & Life Safety to join our team in Riyadh. In this leadership role, you will provide consultations regarding fire protection and life safety systems for large-scale projects throughout the region. You will provide consultations regarding the development of fire and life safety strategies and engage with clients and stakeholders to ensure compliance with codes and standards of record including the Saudi Building Code (SBC 201 and SBC 801), international codes, and standards (UAE, IBC, NFPA, BS, and others).
Responsibilities
- Design Oversight: Assist in providing consultations regarding fire and life safety systems, fire detection and alarm systems, water-based suppression systems, clean agent extinguishing systems, smoke control systems, and passive fire protection systems for complex projects. Prepare and support design submissions, calculations, and fire & life safety strategy reports in coordination with senior engineers. Maintain and cultivate a high standard of quality deliverables and communications.
- Compliance & Inspection: Assist in ensuring designs and installations comply with Saudi and international codes. Conduct audits and inspections.
- Risk Management: Support fire risk assessments and hazard analyses. Support the development of mitigation strategies for high-profile projects.
- Testing & Commissioning: Assist with integrated testing and commissioning of fire and life safety systems to meet regulatory and design requirements.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Coordinate with architects, stakeholders, contractors, and government authorities to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Team Development: Mentor and guide junior and graduate consultants. Foster knowledge sharing and innovation in fire safety practices. Participate in training, technical workshops, and continuous skill development. Participate in knowledge sharing and innovation in fire safety practices.
- Business Development: Contribute to proposals, attend client meetings, and represent WSP at industry events.
- Thought Leadership: Raise the profile of WSP's Fire & Life Safety team through participation in conferences, publications, and professional forums.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, or related technical field (Fire Protection, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Architecture or related field).
- 4-7 years of experience in fire life safety/protection engineering consulting.
- Knowledge of Saudi Building Code (SBC 201 and SBC 801), international codes, and standards (UAE, IBC, NFPA, BS, and others).
