Stafmed is currently recruiting a highly experienced Consultant Infectious Diseases for an exciting full-time position with a leading hospital in the UAE.

About the Role

We are seeking a distinguished Consultant Infectious Diseases with extensive expertise in the diagnosis, management, and prevention of complex infectious diseases. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive infectious disease care, utilizing evidence-based treatment strategies, antimicrobial stewardship principles, and clinical expertise to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients with infectious diseases
• Diagnose and manage complex and serious infections, including bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic infections
• Manage complex infections in immunocompromised and critically ill patients
• Develop and implement evidence-based antimicrobial treatment plans
• Provide consultation for inpatient and outpatient infectious disease cases
• Support antimicrobial stewardship and appropriate antibiotic use
• Collaborate with microbiologists, intensivists, surgeons, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Provide guidance on infection prevention and control measures
• Participate in clinical governance, audits, and quality improvement initiatives
• Support medical education, training, and departmental development

Qualifications

• Board certification in Infectious Diseases or Internal Medicine with subspecialty training in Infectious Diseases
• Recognised Tier 1 qualification, including ABMS, Canadian Royal College certification, UK CCT/CCST, or an equivalent recognised qualification
• Minimum 3–5 years of post-specialisation experience in Infectious Diseases
• Eligibility for Consultant-level licensing with DHA, DOH, or MOHAP

Required Skills

• Extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of complex infectious diseases
• Expertise in antimicrobial therapy and antimicrobial stewardship
• Experience managing infections in critically ill and immunocompromised patients
• Strong clinical judgement and diagnostic decision-making skills
• Experience working within multidisciplinary healthcare teams
• Excellent communication skills with patients and healthcare professionals
• Commitment to patient safety, infection prevention, clinical excellence, and continuous quality improvement
• Ability to work effectively within a high-performing healthcare environment
