Danat Al Emarat is a world-class specialty women's and children's hospital in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It offers advanced medical services across specialties including Neonatology, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Women's Health. The hospital is one of the very few to encompass a dedicated Fetal Medicine Department along with a full-fledged Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the UAE. This has established Danat Al Emarat as a regional referral center for women with high-risk pregnancies, supported by its Level III NICU providing care for the most fragile newborns.
Danat Al Emarat Hospital is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Consultant in Maternal & Fetal Medicine (MFM) to join its Women's Health division. The successful candidate will provide specialized care for high-risk pregnancies, fetal assessment, prenatal diagnosis, and the management of complex maternal and fetal conditions. The role requires close collaboration with Obstetrics & Gynecology, Neonatology, Genetics, Pediatric Subspecialties, and other multidisciplinary teams to ensure exceptional outcomes for mothers and babies.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert consultation and management for high-risk pregnancies and complex maternal-fetal conditions.
- Perform detailed fetal ultrasound examinations, including fetal anatomy scans, growth assessments, and Doppler studies.
- Diagnose and manage fetal abnormalities and congenital conditions.
- Conduct prenatal screening, counseling, and diagnostic procedures as clinically indicated.
- Develop individualized care plans for patients with complex obstetric, medical, and fetal conditions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including Neonatology, Genetics, Pediatric Surgery, and Obstetrics & Gynecology.
- Participate in antenatal planning and delivery management for high-risk pregnancies.
- Provide comprehensive patient and family counseling regarding maternal and fetal conditions.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation and reporting.
- Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives, research activities, and continuing medical education.
- Support the advancement of maternal and fetal medicine services within the organization.
Qualifications
- Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent recognized qualification).
- Completion of accredited specialty training in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
- Fellowship or subspecialty certification in Maternal & Fetal Medicine from a recognized institution.
- Tier 1 qualification as per DOH requirements (e.g., American Board Certification, Canadian Board Certification, CCT/CCST, Australian Fellowship, or equivalent Tier 1 qualification).
- Eligible for or holding a DOH Consultant License in Maternal & Fetal Medicine.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of post-board/subspecialty experience at Consultant level.
- Extensive experience in managing high-risk pregnancies and performing advanced fetal imaging.
- Expertise in prenatal diagnosis, fetal surveillance, and obstetric ultrasound.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
- Commitment to evidence-based medicine and patient-centered care.
